Are banks open or closed on Monday Jan.3rd ?!

Sheesh! Who knew it would be so hard to find this info online?!

I've been searching on google for a while and can't seem to find the info anywhere or on my bank's website (CIBC). (Although CIBC Investor's Edge website does list their holiday schedule...but does it apply to branch locations as well?)

How annoying.


Anyway, all I did find was citi's, Scotia's and Canadian Western's holiday schedule, which indicate they will be closed tomorrow...so should I assume the same goes for all other banks?!

I'm pretty sure they are closed because the New Year's fell on Saturday and most banks are closed Saturday.

I know federal charted banks, have to get special permission to be closed for more than 3 days in a row..., unless the laws have changed recently.
