*Disclaimer. This is not about pooning so if topics unrelated to sex annoy you, then stop reading right now!

I bought it in 2002 and thought I would use it more but then my interests turned away from Central America and towards SE Asia and Australia and they don't have any resorts there that I'm interested in. ie only one resort in Queensland, what's up with that?

I own 45 weeks (+unlimited burn/breakaway weeks) not a piece of the resort, plus my membership in HSI (Holiday Systems International) which seems to be the main value. I am not locked in and can use as many weeks a year as I choose. They have plenty of resorts in the US, Mexico, Cuba, etc as well as resorts in Canada and Europe. I've already been there and am looking west now. Even the Whistler and Banff ones don't interest me, it's too damn cold and I'm a sun worshiper.

I just paid the yearly dues which are $89 US and it started me thinking that a lot of people on here travel more than I for business and pleasure and could really use this membership. A WEEK with the membership in a 5 star hotel goes for approximately $450 US, less if it's a breakaway or burn week. My home resort is the Avalon Grande in Cancun and it is sweet, but I've been 3 times now...

Anyway, if anyone is interested let me know. I could let it go for under$10,000 CDN. I talked them down from an original $20,000 USD, which is still less than the HSI website is offering. Ta ta for now.

They are all different Lisa depending on what company you use.

A friend of mine bought a piece of the one up island, Pacific Shores, but she has RCI instead of HSI. It cost her about $30,000 and she HAS to take a week every year, or trade/sell it to someone who does. Also, because she owns it, it is considered real estate and she must claim any increase in value in her income taxes. She does own the nicest suite, a 2 bdrm with jacuzzi tub, dining room etc, so when she trades it for another resort, she gets the same value ie their nicest suite. She is on Maui using it right now, and we have talked of using the one in Vancouver for a shopping trip. What I don't like about it is if she doesn't want to use it that year, she still has to pay the $450+ a week instead of the $89 I pay to maintain my membership regardless of using it or not. I could use it 45 weeks in one year which at RCI you cannot do, I believe.

I toured another timeshare in Belize at the resort they filmed Temptation Island, Captain Morgans and they had beutiful suites BUT you bought a particular week, and the week they wanted to sell was July 20-27th. Who wants to go there in the middle of the hot, humid, rainy season? If you didn't want to go one year, too bad, you pay for it anyway. They didn't use HSI or RCI, so I assume there are independant timeshares.

I think it would be more useful to business people who travel a lot and pay $200+a night for a room, as $450 a week is a much better deal. There are burn weeks for sale every week, that are more last minute and are $250 a week or lower, that are sometimes/often 2 bdrms that sleep 6. You can book a 2bdrm suite with my company and it is just more expensive, I think $80 USD a night instead of $60.

Maybe I should keep it and hope they open up more resorts in Australia and SE Asia in the future, as it's good for 30 years??? I was told by a client who used to sell timeshares that I got a good deal on it....

PS Did I mention you get 50% off golf?? Lol.
