Hey, I don't know if this is appropriate to post here, but I thought it better than putting in with the Victoria Reviews. I recently found a stray cat and rehabiliated him. He's neutered, de-wormed, got all of his shots, and comes with a veterinary record and rabies certificate. He's about a yeah and a half old according to the vet, but he's quite small. He's a dark orange (ginger) tabby, and he's very affectionate. I need a home for him ASAP, as the landlord is being an asshole about me only allowed 1 cat. So if anyone you know in Victoria is looking for a healthy kitty, please get in touch with me. Obviously I must be desperate since I'm posting on Perb, of all places. I really don't want to give him to the SPCA, so I am trying all avenues first. IMHO animal shelters are a last resort, not a first choice. Please ask around for me. Many thanks.... (and Minerva thanks you, too!)

Good gawd,

I thought I'd never see the day that I turn down free pussy.

I wish I could help and take him Morrigan, but I have a full house. If it comes to it, please don't take him to the SPCA, it's just business there. If you have a Petsmart in Vic, they sponser the local non kill shelters. They can get you in touch with one. If you don't have a petsmart there, let me know and I will find a non kill shelter over there for you. Good luck Hon'

Thank you Dakota. I just woke up and I have a really bad feeling about something (although I don't know what) and it won't go away. The landlord wrote that I need to "get rid of the cat ASAP", but put no 'gone by' date. I just hope he doesn't take it in his mind that two days is long enough to find a home for a cat! If its not too late, and I have more time, I will definately look into the Petsmart thing. Great to see people supporting animal shelters. Thanks again....

FYI ... Victoria SPCA has a no-kill policy unless the animal is severely sick or injured. there is also the cat rescue society who finds temporary foster homes for cats.

Morrigan: as far as I know (but you can phone to be certain) if the landlord has not given you a date, then he cannot evict you ... he also needs to give you a full month's notice of an eviction that you may be able to appeal.

The ONLY thing you can be evicted for with no appeal is not paying your rent and that includes not paying and then paying two days later, you're still gone.

Victoria? Aw crap. I'm halfway across the country from you Morrigan, otherwise I would be very interested. Best of luck with finding you cat a new home. And remember the first law of nature: dogs drool and cats rule! :D

same options as here?

Hi Morrigan
Do you have adopt-a-pet there? they will come get him and ensure a good home. I dont trust SPCA. When I lost my cat due to "stuff".. they told me they only keep cats 2 weeks, because after that they get sick from being in there and the stress.
Old age homes also allow pets to wander freely among the residents because it calms them down and soothes them (the people that is. heh)
There are lots of options, but not sure if you have the same ones there (I am in Calgary)
Too bad he wasnt here.. I already know somene who is looking for one.....

Good luck in your quest...
