So apparently the only "legally licensed escort" out there is blowing the whistle on all the others. Not really any of my business, but they did show pictures from BP while I recognized - including Chanel Coco's ad - and apparently the station called a bunch of girls asking them if they were licensed.

Again, not that I really care, but I just got to comment on their crime watch reporter Stacy Ashley, who apparently visited some girls herself. She said she was surprised how the girls were very co-operative, and weren't strung out on drugs, etc etc etc - and even interviewed a girl in university who was only doing this for the money. For fucks sakes... really, Stacy? Really???

LOL...really?? must be a slow news night......
There was a big fuss about this a few years ago. If memory serves me right the city was trying to crack down on unlicensed escorts and visited a few ladies. One of the nuances of the by-law is that as long as the lady is not calling herself an "Escort" she is okay. Sounds silly but that's what I was told by one lady who was called on. She hired a lawyer and took the city to task over the fact she was a Service Provider not an Escort and they backed down. That's why EC changed their ads so the ladies are referred to as "Service Providers" instead of "Escorts".
Not sure if anything came of this but I'm sure it is a non-starter unless the lady is openly calling herself an escort.

Well first off there is a big difference in being an escort & a prostitute. This girl is taking about safety and how all these girl's are doing this illegally, there is no prostitution license. Hell if there was one for independent girl's I know many that would get themselves one. As for safety not every SP out there takes risks. Many have a safe call.
What makes her paying for a license yearly guarantee safety for her or her girl's. I just taking a shot in the dark here & guessing her business is very slow right now. With the 50 SP's on EC and the 100's with only maybe 25% being legit & not a scam on BP.
I love how Stacey said at the end we are all doing this illegally. For a crime news reporter she doesn't check her facts. Prostitution is completely legal. It's about how you go about it that there are illegal aspects.
Since that sting year's back I will never have a dinner date nor will I meet someone for drinks. Now that is illegal. What goes on behind closed door's between two consenting adults is no ones business.

Did the same took my ticket's to court, the crown prosecutor tried to plea bargain me with paying one ticket they'd drop the other. I said "I'm not an Escort, I'm a Prostitute". The look on her face was priceless. I said "I'm not paying for escort fines when I'm not an escort". Judge listened to false statements from the undercover John & then the vice (the vice's version was accurate though), then told me I was free to go.
I know prostitute sounds so harsh, but in all reality that's what every girl is that advertises and gets paid to have sex. I might get flamed for saying it from some SP's, it wasn't ment as an insult. But keep it in the back of your mind. Never say or tell anyone your an escort. I don't call myself a prostitute, but always good to have it mind set so you don't refer to yourself as an escort. Escort sounds all fancy to some, but to those that want to cause you grief, it sounds like ammunition to them. End of story, till the next girl like this one has a hissy fit over being slow, she even admitted to all the competition.

I doubt if any of this will result in any SPs getting busted. WPS vice are spending most of their resources on SWs on Selkirk Ave., and rightfully so.

"Prostitute" isn't harsh at all; it's a neutral word. It describes someone (usually female, but not always) who has sex for money or other forms of personal gain. That's all. Words like "whore" are harsher, especially because they're usually said with a contemptuous tone of voice. In many ancient cultures, prostitution was an honourable profession.

I saw the whole "news" item on the late news. What a crappy job of reporting that was!

I've known a few reporters in my day, both TV/Radio or newspaper and they have never left me with the impression they were overly intelligent.
I recall once many years ago in another life I was doing an interview over the phone with a radio personality and I had to repeat myself 4 times when answering one question because they kept misinterpreting my response and it wasn't even a complex issue.

I've worked with quite a few of them over the years, and I have to agree. There's a decent percentage of them that are well down the left side of the bell curve.
