Any tips on stopping spam?

For the past couple of months I've been getting spam in my email that my account can't filter. It's always a different email address but the same come on for online drugs. As the address keeps changing I can't block it.

I don't want to change my email address, because I use it for business, but is there a way to get around this?

The best spam filters remove spam based on statistics. After a while of you telling it which words are highly probable of spam (eg. v1agra), it will automatically flag them accordingly. (This is known as Bayesian Filtering.)

There are several programs which do this for different platforms. Assuming you're using Windows, I would recommend K9 (http://keir.net/k9.html). Others are popfile, spam assassin, etc.

Spam control success will depend on many things.
What Mail client software are you using?
If Outlook 2003 or before, then Spambayes rocks.

I've found gmail filters excellent for spam filtering. You either signup for a gmail account and set it up to retrieve your email which filters it or if you control your domain, you can set up gmail as your default mail server.

Just delete it - it is frustrating but deleting is fast.

Most spam filters use algorithms to determine if an email is spam. The quality of the filter is determined by the quality of the algorithm. They tend to get better over time, but still just cut down on the amount.

Qurb is a white list app. It simply makes a list of every one of your contacts, and every one you've emailed and says - these people are safe and can come to your inbox. Everyone else goes to a Qurb folder. The effect is amazing, you still get the spam, but it doesn't control you anymore, you check the folder once an hour, or day or whenever to confirm there is no good emails in there. Buy now - instead of spam interrupting your day, you can decide when to check it.

As a result - it gets 100% of spam on day 1.
