If you want your name in lights, it's pretty improbable you'll get there by being a pro companion. As far as making some people a little happier for a short period of time, I think that can be an understatement for both parties.Well of course its not all bad and there is plenty to enjoy aswell as be wary of...
but on the "you're better than that" front, the attitude is there because of the assumption that its easy to do (it is and it isnt) and you could be achieving so much more with your life, which maybe true depending on the person.
I mean, if all you did with your life was suck penises for a few hundred dollars, what do you have to look back on and be proud of later? I guess there is the fact you brought happiness to a few people in small doses.
I realize this may sting a couple of readers but its the truth is it not? Noone has yet erected a statue or given a Nobel Prize out for fucking to date afaik.
The OP asked about suggesting this work for someone already in school though, so i'm guessing it would be a means to and end rather than the end in itself. The future in that scenario is a little less final.
It's easy to glamorize and easy to depreciate. The value of being a companion is far more internal than about the tangible benefits.
