Any girls a fan of Levon Helm/The Band?

If you happen to like Levon Helm, I have an extra ticket for the concert at The Centre tonight and none of my little black book girlfriends are able to make it.

If any of the pretty girls around here

1. Know who Levon Helm and/or The Band is
2. Care to sit next to a polite, presentable, and reasonably normal boy in his mid-30s.

This is just for someone to go with. Nothing more than that expected.

I know that the response will be overwhelming, so get your requests in early.

I grew up on Rush and rock. But I have no idea who this guy/'band' is. Kinda feel like you should send me the link, cuz I just don't feel like googling, til I wrote this all out. He can't compete with Neil Young, and that's what I'm listening to now.

I must be, cuz I finally checked out the youtube, and I like it.

I'm not saying I want to go to the concert....I have to love the band to put up with them for the entire concert....

But, that's pretty fun. I loved seeing the 'bass cello' or whatever that was....he has some fun intrumental talents behind him. (woman with acoustic?)

Actually, in my opinion he can more than compete with Neil Young.

You should watch a movie called the Last Waltz in which, Neil himself said being on stage with Levon Helm and the Band was one of the highlights of his life. And having just seen Levon Helm yesterday and having seen Neil Young in the past, if both were coming into town next week, I'd pick Levon Helm hands down. That was an awesome show...although it's a shame about his voice which given that he had cancer of the throat a few years back and a cold resulted in it being basically shot. That said it was still a very good show, which Elvis Costello making a guest appearance and sings 3-4 songs.

I'm a bit of a funny duck in that I'm a Canadian rock fanatic, and Ronny Hawkins and the Band started rock and roll in Canada, of that there's absolutely no doubt.

Ha. Well, this is why I specified that you probably want to know who Levon Helm is. It's not like going to a Justin Timberlake concert.

He was part of one of the most important bands in rock history. Actually, they were simply called "The Band" (and for the most part, comprised of Canadians). You probably know every one of their songs.

And The Band definitely competes with Neil Young. I don't think Neil has a problem with that either. They performed together often.

Hubba's video isn't very good representation of what the concert was like. Levon only plays mandolin for a couple songs (and he's not a great mandolin player to begin with).

I'm listening to Chest Fever on rock 101 at the moment Robin LaRose commented that he felt it was the best song of the night.

Gotta agree, I love that song. What surprised me and took me a few minutes to figure out was the opening riffs were done via a guitar solo instead of Garth Hudson's electric organ.

They said it was a bit of Little Feat and the Band mixed together. He once again just mentioned how great the concert was.
