How many animals are there in a pair of pantyhose?
This is how old that joke is. I first heard it in high school as "How many animals are there in a pair of leotards?" It was leotards because it was around 1960, and pantyhose weren't commonly available until 1966 or 1967.
The "fish no one can find" is a recent addition, however.
