Another way for the cops to extort money from us.

We live in a f*cked up society....just put a speed cap on every car and none of this ever happens. Why make cars that go those speeds if it's illegal? If there is a top speed of say 120km on every car manufactured, this isn't even a topic of conversation. Why because they don't give a sh*t about people dying, they care about catching speeders and keeping money coming in.

Imagine cops not behind poles on a sunny day with their shades on but out catching real criminals? It's all about the cheddahhh!

why do we need mom (the government) to put speed limiters on cars?

its simple really.. just DONT FUCKING SPEED
there is no need to be doing 90+ kph in a 50kph zone or 100+ in a 60 (which is 40+kph and where the excessive speed law takes effect)

and no i am no goodie 2 shoes white knight ... it is too dangerous to do the speed limit in this town. but i try to keep it at around 10+ most times
never would i be doing 40+ even on the hwy with a 100kph limit. and even with me doing 10+ over most people are passing me. its about time they crack
down on these morons.

we need better driver training. i see it all the time. people driving like they are in a Nascar race 5ft(or less) from the rear bumper of the car in front while doing 80+kph
there seems to be a lot of people that do not know what a turn signal is for or do any kind of shoulder check before changing lanes. so good ..get these bad drivers off our
roads.

As someone who's seen too many MVA's I'd seize the car and crush it. Anybody doing 40 kms over the limit is an asshole and deserves a good thrashing as well as all the expense. That's just irresponsible. Go to a track if you're so good. Too many unpredictables on streets to do that.

Why because people are idiots and are always gonna do things they shouldn't. I'm sure you have many instances in your life where this is true. Kinda like dudes cheating on their wives? No? Not sure why having a cap limit on a car would be a problem, sounds more like a simple solution. People would rather bitch and argue over things then do what's right.....thus these conversations are pointless IMO.

So Muff, in all seriousness.....if the highest speed limit is 110 why do we need cars that go 260 on the street(not talking race tracks)? Look forward to hearing your explanation

Why is this extortion?? Just don't fucking speed!, it's really simple, I you want to go fast, buy a racecar and do it at the mission raceway!

I saw a 6 Series BMW fly past me, I was doing 100, and it was like I was standing still, and this was in the massey tunnel, that guy needs his car impounded and crushed, regardless of the costs!!!
He should probably do some jail time, on the count of his stupidity....

Also I live on a residential street, have three kids, most of the houses in the area have kids, and cars regularly go by at 90-100km per hour, somebody is gonna get killed one day!

I have no respect or sympathy for speeders

With all due respect it's not speed that kills its the stupidity and the inability to handle the speed. I drive fast only when permitted but I have also taken a few driving courses that teach you how to drive. ( and no it's not young drivers of Canada). Think about it why are there so many L and N badges on high priced and high performance cars nowadays. A hundred and fifty thousand cars with 500 hp for someone with a learners permit is just plain dumb.

A fine is a fine....if you want to speed then you run the risks of getting caught...at least in Vancouver the VPD does not have a quota like in Calgary. The yearly additional high risk driver premium and vehicle impounding is a steaming crock of BS though....get 2 tickets and you get dinged for 3 consecutive years on your insurance...that is nothing to do with safety it is a cash grab plain and simple....guess the BC government has to make up the lost revenue from getting rid of photo radar ;)

Photo Radar was costing them money. This is to pay for the Olympics.
