Saw that Robert Redford passed away. One of the good guys using his celebrity for some good causes. Not my favourite actor but his movies were never in that category of doing movies just because, like some of the legacy actors.
If I recall it correctly, 1982, 1983? I was a regular day trip skier out of Valemont in the early 80's, hooking up with a bunch of avid skiers from Edmonton who were connected to heli skiing opportunities with Hans Gmoser and Mike Weigle. We would get day rates and motel vacancies prices way below the going price. Anyway, February where in the Cariboos, the weather could be glorious or really bad, we went through a 2 day no ski weekend being socked in, the rest of the crew left and I decided to stay one more day. Supper that Sunday a big group arrived and there was a buzz about this one. Robert Redford was in for a week. Next morning, weather clear and I was the lone guy with the 2 groups full when one of the group opted to not ski. I got drafted into the Redford group. I got a few chances to chat just remember he was gracious and a nice guy and a really good skier.
RIP Mr. Redford. Thanks for all you've done.
