While many are responsible for the death of Amanda Todd, this particular person stands out moreso.

Kody Maxson is an infrastructure engineer at Facebook. He's also a pedophile and blackmailed Amanda Todd, which eventually lead to her suicide.

He lives in 105-117 Sapper St, New Westminster BC, V3L 3Y6, Canada.

Sure, now that this poor girl is dead everyone is lining up to blame somebody. Don't get me wrong. If this guy is a Pedo and he's responsible, I'd be the first one voluteering to put a bullet in the back of his worthless skull. That said, I'm so sick and tired of reading about bullying and how everyone is so against it but when it occurs the adults and authorities do nothing and the kids all pile on.
Where the hell were all of these friends of Amanda's when she was going through this?
My daughter had a friend get bullied last year. She had just moved to the school and despite being a very nice kid she was I guess not a very good student. A lot of it stemmed from the fact she came from a place where the schools are terrible. Anyway if not for my daughter and couple of other girls taking her under their wing, she likely would have quit school or worse, after sufferring bullying every day from other students. Her mother told me this.
Lucky for her, her uncle was connected politically because despite several complaints as high up as the Superintendant's Office, nothing was being done until her uncle got someone from the Education Minister's office involved.
8 kids ended up being suspended and the bullying stopped but if left up to the adults in charge it would have gone on.

There is no such thing as an innocent pedophile! He is currently facing pedophile charges in New West in an unrelated case.

How about parents, administrators, and doctors. Why didn't anyone ever suggest she just not use FB for awhile since it seemed to be a major contributing cause?
Exactly.

That's why I have told my daughter to not go on Facebook. At her age there is no need for social media. She sees her friends every day. Whatever she is doing they know. All Facebook is for teens, is another place they can fall victim to pedo's, kooks and bullying.

Just like I tell her about staying out late. "Nothing good happens after midnight."

Cheers

The schools and authorities are too busy running their Anti-Bullying programs to actually do anything about real bullying, I assume.

LE really dropped the ball here as well. There is zero reason why they couldn't have pursued this at the beginning, and traced who did the intitial picture posting/harrassment. Once authorities, teachers, and other adults do nothing, the kids around her were given the green light to do it themselves. After all, if no adults are stopping them, it must be ok.

Same thing happens in other places. It comes down to admin not having an anything goes attitude, but firm policies on zero tolerance for what is actually against the law in the first place. Far too much worrying about freedom of speech, imo. Freedom of speech has never been able to trump unlawful activity.

The police who work the schools are not exactly the best of the best. They're largely female officers that don't want to work weekends, overtime or nights, have medical issues and are more interested in their own child care than their job.

That's crazy!!!

Someone posted a link to an interview with the mother and she discusses all this stuff (sorry don't remember the link but it's on Violet's thread...)

Totally! If it was easy to find on top of it. There was this dude who a) produced child porn b) distributed child porn c) stalked and harassed a minor and probably more....like wtf is up with LE? Seems crazy to me that it could have gone on repeatedly for so long and nothing was ever done to catch that POS!!! Seriously though, what the hell???

Those who expect LE to answer and investigate every call needs a reality check. I was recently involved with an investigation into a crocked caregiver emptying an elderly patient's entire life savings. LE refused to even look at the case until we can present them with enough evidence to convince the prosecutor. The person was not charged until we handed him to the RCMP on a silver platter (he'll probably be out in less than a year, just in time to find another victim). Same goes for other white-collar crime and non-emergency/essential cases (cyber stalking although serious as in Amanda's case is non-emergency). They will sit on their asses unless you can show them someone is in immediate mortal danger or if someone is threatening nobody with a stapler at the airport...

yeah, bringing a complaint to LE creates work for them......It takes away from the sexual harrassment of their female co workers, scheming overtime scams and camping out at Starbux or Tim's.

Alix... I'd be careful with that sort of re-posting... it feels good to engage in vigilante justice, but if that man comes to harm because of you (or anyone else) making his home address known, well, the justice system has a tried and tested way of being BLIND. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve some serious bad karma, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

Also, she was tormented by several other children... viciously, across multiple schools. Should the names and addresses of those psychopaths be revealed? By rights they should be... but it would be unconscionable to do so. I know what just one psycho (now medicated, a little more normal) can do, as I heard horror stories of what my little sister went through at school. If my sister didn't have the family support that she did (albeit, I wasn't the best brother...and I would've acted differently if I had known what was going on...), she could've easily ended up like Amanda Todd.

The situation just isn't as open and shut as we'd like it to be :|

I'm not saying I'm right, because I see that there are an awful lot of possible consequences for reposting in this individual circumstance...
But I am sure that there is no way in hell that we will ever see positive change in the behaviour of the people that are capable of this kind of manipulative, sadistic, emotional abuse of a child if we shield them from the consequences that they intentionally provoke or threaten their victims with if they are not given what they want. People like that are after power, and being able to do things to people that won't ever do them back.. would be very appealing I imagine.

I didnt double check at the time, but in the future I would be sure to edit out any suggestion of further action toward an assailant if necessary before reposting details of their identity, and the shitty behaviour they have been linked to.

Ill use my judgement to decide what is repost worthy

People wonder why LE dropped the ball. When haven't the police dropped the ball in the past 20-40 years? This isn't an hour TV program where shit happens and by the end of the hour the perpetrator gets found. No point in the investigation does a guy take off his sun glasses, make a glib obvious comment and boom 40 minutes later, he's the guy!.

Police investigations take time and MANPOWER something all police agencies seem to be short of these days. VPD and RCMP IhHIT task forces are on solid overtime dealing with these gang douche-bags. Not enough resources, not enough officers not enough importance placed on certain cases unfortunately.
Meanwhile we're spending how many millions on the Translink Easy Retirement Force. What a gravy train!

We are not judge and jury, and I think it's endangering someone's life by posting things like that.
What proof is there, aside from the accusations of someone who call themselves 'anonymous', that he did these things?
What if this 'anonymous' has it out for a person and fingers that person as revenge? And then his info is circulated as though he's been charged, tried and convicted of this crime and now it's up to a public lynch mob to punish him?
'Anonymous' stands to lose nothing in this if they aren't correct because they're not publicly identifying themselves.
Uhm, I am surprised you are so concerned about keeping this person anonymous after your comments about the people who end up on "The Dirty"
Yeah, it always makes me wonder if they've done something to provoke that behaviour? Like maybe it's a reaction to an action by the person? Because in the case of the people I know who were posted on there they certainly brought it on themselves.
A lot of my friends know what I do but you don't see me blasted all over the dirty...
I totally agree that it could be that the information is inaccurate, the wrong person is blamed, and the police will discover it should they even see any reason to begin a criminal investigation. That person will suffer somewhat, but not as much as if they were called out by members of the community or someone that claimed to be a victim. Right now though, if Anonymous is right, imagine if this kind of investigation was the normal response to any kind of internet harassment complaints? Well, this proceeding that Kody is currently involved in for allegedly doing something similar to another teen that he is accused of doing to Amanda, seems that it would have likely been avoided.

so, Anon. just said "oops, our bad, wrong info".

Now an innocent family is living in terror because of a mistake made by one person, and propagated throughout the internet. I guess this is a lesson for all of us in the dangers of vigilante justice? I guess they still have the right guy, it's just that everything else was wrong...
