Truly amazing and fantastic that anyone actually pays attention to a show centered around and orgy of self congratulation for the multi billion dollar film industry.
That's really little more than a questionable popularity contest with no basis on merit. (although I do undertand Slum Dog Millionaire is supposed to be good).
It is amusing to see the glamour and excess while people starve to death a few dozen blocks over from the event location.

SM was my #1 film of 2008 after The Visitor and The Dark Knight.
Happy to see Sean Penn winning for Milk (another top 10 film) along with the greatest actress in today's cinema, Kate Winslet. Heath was a shoe in for a great performance and Penelope Cruz finally got to show her acting teeth in a more accessible American film (although she was fantastic in "Volver").

$98M boxoffice thusfar in the US/Canada theatres. No idea on the international box office totals. GREAT soundtrack too!
