Hey all, thought I'd ask all you world travellers about suggestions for a nice 1 week December holiday other than Mexico.

After reading about mounting violence and political disturbances, I am reconsidering a Manzanillo vacation I was thinking of. The way I view it, the situation could get better or get worse and I am not sure I wish to gamble.

Anybody been anywhere nice, warm, friendly, all-inclusive lately? I am up for all suggestions as long as it isn't Jamaica, Haiti, or Cuba ;)

www.wikepedia.org/wiki/saipan. I became curious about this little island in Micronesia when I saw that they had a team in the Little League World Series this past week. It looks gorgeous and I'm sure it would make for a relaxing respite. The only negative might be the flight...probably $$$$$$$$$. Beautiful little place though.

Have you ever thought of Thailand? A pooner like you could fuck his brains out every day for minimal cost in Bangkok or Phuket.

You might want to check out the Dominican Republic. Your travel agent should be able to provide you with plenty of details. Expedia also offers lots of package deals to Punta Cana DR.

Yah, I think I am gearing towards going to Punta Cana. Thailand would be cool, but then I couldn't bring my wife ;)

The only issue I have with Dom. Rep. is sharing an island with Haiti.

Belize

The islands off the coast of Belize are amazing.

The snorkelling and diving is second only to the Great Barrier Reef and the water is that clear, blue, warm Carribean that feels like bathwater with white sandy beaches everywhere.

The mainland sucks... but the islands are a little piece of heaven.

Vacation time

If you dive, Belize is good, or you could try Roatan, Bay Islands Honduras, Continental Airlines flies there from Seattle. Excellent diving and the local girls like white boys, hehe. mucho grande ponane!!

People speak spanish and english, there is always someone within earshot who can translate if need be. If you are on a budget, stay in the West End, if you have bucks to blow, West Bay beach, Fantasy Island then Anthony's Key Re$ort.

You really want a cheap vacation go to Utila, next door neighbour island, dirt cheap diving courses, there is only diving and partying for the 20 something backpacker crowd. http://www.aboututila.com/

Google and check it out.

Dominican Republic = B-O-R-I-N-G.
You can only sit on a beach for so long before you need something to occupy your mind. gravitas had the best suggestion so far in this thread with Costa Rica. I'd add Cuba to that pile. I actually liked Cuba better, because there aren't any ******* Americans on the Island. ;)

I've been to the Cooks more than once and really liked it above the water, the diving is OK, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dive there, the place is not Central America cheap, but costs less than Tahiti. http://www.ck

***Remember the next episode of "Survivor" was filmed there (Aitutaki, Cook Islands) and will air this fall, getting to the Cooks maybe difficult once the secret gets out.

Tonga is OK, rather poor, go up to the Northern Islands, I went to Vava'u and stayed at a place called Mala Island, EXCELLENT diving!! The regional airline flies DC-03's but you will end up in a "newer" airplane, some type of Convair. http://www.peauvavau.to/

Been to Samoa (western and american) too bloody hot and humid, but if you must go, do Western Samoa.

Wait a tick, how about Hawaii, maybe Maui??

If you fly all the way to Asia the first thing you need is a massage ( the sex kind or not). Flying 12+ hours with a connection in between is hell. Pure hell.

I am still dreaming my stay at San Francisco a month ago. It might be a little bit expensive, but I had a great time there.

I loved my private dance at the local strip club and I went back there twice with the same girls. If you can afford ,there are tons of girls in San Francisco. The only problem is as some Perb members advice, many girls are being controlled by gangsters. So you have to be careful!Of course they are more expensive than Van!:(

Apart from girls, the seafood there is good , people are warmth and there are lots of things to do!:D A very exciting city and I would love to be back there for sure!;)

A year ago during Spring Break ,I was at Los Cabos which is the top choice for Spring Break vacation. I loved that place as well. The only thing was ,I was there with my kids . That meant I couldn't be mischieved!

Again the scenary there was great, people were friendly. I was not able to connect the street scene there. However the cost to stay there was the same as San Francisco! I ask myself a question. I thought Mexico ( sorry no discrimination! ) is not a 1st world country ,but the cost is no different from any international cities in the world??
So in term of value, I won't pick Los Cabos neither!:(

One place that I have been dreaming to go to is Santorini in Greece.
Do you remember the movie " Summer Lovers!" It was taken place there. Nude beach, sandy beach, inhabited ( a remote island),sunny and warmth!
That is a great place for honey moon. No one can find you nor contact you!!!!!!!!!:D  :p

actually malta would be really nice as well. very over looked destination. there is a theory that the atlantis civilization of which plato?, homer? socretes? haha one of those fuckers anyway, wrote about so many years ago actually began on what is present day malta.

they have ruins of buildings that for their time would have been more advanced then anything of the time that pre - date the pyramids i forget by how many years but it was quite a few.

here is a link. the place is fucking gorgeous. http://www.maltagozo.com/photos.html

i might be a bit biased though seeing as how my last name is maltese.
