Al Pacino or Robert De Niro

deniro and pacino have shared movies three times. in godfather 2, however they didnt share any screen time. in heat they were stellar. and a few years back they stunk out the joint with a movie called righteous kill. if you pause near the end you can see pacino with gigantic lifts on his shoes.

pacino's portrayal of michael corleone is unmatched, and without a doubt his best work. im a fan of both, but i think deniro took more risks through out his carreer.

just out of curiosity, did pacino do any comedies in his carreer? deniro did the analyze this movies, meet the parents, midnight run, etc, but i don't remember pacino doing anything similar.

I always thought that most of Pacino's great characters were more intense than most of DeNiro's. As a body of work, I have to give the edge to DeNiro. He has played more classic characters than Pacino although both actors career's has fizzled somewhat. I think playing such characters like Tony Montana and Travis Bickle is a young man's game and they probably don't have the wherewithal to do it with any regularity any more.

in their time it was too close to call. Though Al Pacino's portrayal of Michael Corleone is classic. De Niro could not have portrayed Michael Corleone descent into evil as well. But now my personal opinion is that Al Pocino has has become a characture (sp?) of himself. De Niro, for the most part, picks better rolls (the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie being a greatest exception ever).

Al Pacino did some pretty good acting in that controversial movie " Cruising " about 3 decades ago. The storyline was still considered very much taboo during that era. There were numerous protests during filming and the producers were continually getting death threats. Studio executives didn't want to be affiliated with the project. But the movie still managed to rake a decent profit despite every hurdle it faced. If the movie was released at present time, were things are more acceptable, it would certainly score a big knock out in the box office.

Outside acting, Robert De Niro probably had more success in the business arena as he was the one who brought celebrity Japanese chef Nobu Matsushisa to New York in the early 90's and that's how the global empire of high-end Nobu restaurants started with De Niro as partner.

The Centurion Tower of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas gets a stylish makeover and will become a 180-room Japanese-themed NOBU Hotel. Being one of the main partners of the Nobu Group, Robert De Niro suddenly makes it to the luxury hotel business. Of course, most stars from Stallone to Pacino are investors in the nearby Planet Hollywood.

Michael Corleone was one of the greatest displays of acting ever. In terms of who I'd rather watch now, probably De Niro. I think someone mentioned that Pacino seems too much like a parody of himself now.

I love the comic roles, that one with Billy Crystal, (I am terrible with movie names). I think he is a very versatile actor.

I haven't watched too many DeNiro movies lately so can't form much of an opinion about his recent work. In the past he's been a great actor. Al Pacino. . .... has been a great actor in the past but now it seems to me he's not really acting anymore he's just being himself.

Hard call. Overall I like De Niro more, at least on screen, but the Godfather saga, is a real gem, as is a movie called "Dog Day Afternoon" That was a truly awesome movie.

Not sure which De Niro movie I like best, probably Goodfellows, because I'm a bit of a mob junkie. But going back and remembering Raging Bull and the Deerhunter..bring back memories.

Finally someone mentioned the Deer Hunter and Raging Bull and on the 3rd page. Both are skilled, but I have to say I am more a Deniro fan.
I will go back and watch more Deniro movies than Pacino movies
