Al Pacino or Robert De Niro

I have a distinct opinion about Al Pacino. He was awonderful actor at one time. His face was extraordinarily expressive but subtle. He may have hit his peak in "Sea of Love". Since about one decade ago, he's gone downhill, kind of declamatory and schlocky. He's had several parts opposite Robert Deniro, another actor on the decline. The two together are an uninteresting and cliched combo.

Choosing who is better is too subjective in my books. I prefer to say they are both great actors and I have enjoyed their work.

After Godfather I & II, plus Scarface I don't think there's any competition with Al Pacino... two of the most defining characters of our time!
I agree with you there Don, Al Pacino's portrayal of Michael Corleone outshines any single character played by DeNiro.
But for over all body of work I gotta give it to DeNiro... My favorite Deniro film is still Ronin.
As for other great actors I'd put Jack Nicholson above both Pacino and Deniro... Why?

But the greatest of them all is Clint Eastwood, with Charles Bronsan a close second.

i just finished watching "goodfellas", and one of the best movies i seen so far. not forgeting to mention the cameo appearance from the actors that took part on "the sopranos". but honestly those are two tough choices there... although i never (maybe have in the new movie "machete") seen Mr. De Niro hold a ak-47 with a gernade launcher and have his character as a "don" in the mafia. but aside from that, i never seen Mr. Pacino took part acting on a voice-over character (ie: for de niro, Shark Tale). what really got my attention is, "the godfather saga", it made pacino's career go big as we can say. for de niro, maybe "taxi driver" up'd his career. overall, i would say de niro... reason why, well watch a few movies of his and i believe that the many characters he portrated truely explains the character background. but i am glad that they got to work together again in the movie "righteous kill" aside from godfather saga... once again it's just my opinion...

some actors like to stay in character but not in the lunch line or at a meeting.....rudeness off camera is uncalled for.
I like Al Pacino in " Any Given Sunday " that football movie which was the idea of former 49er Jamie Williams and made into film by Oliver Stone. He was offered a sequel but Al Pacino doesn't really like doing sequels. Robert De Niro was great in " Casino " playing the true story of Lefty Rosenthal, probably the Godfather of Sportsbooks.
Outside acting, Robert De Niro probably had more success in the business arena as he was the one who brought celebrity Japanese chef Nobu Matsushisa to New York in the early 90's and that's how the global empire of high-end Nobu restaurants started with De Niro as partner.
For theaters lovers ( we did have " Wicked " in Vancouver a few months ago ), the legendary production of the " Merchants of Venice " with Al Pacino as Shylock comes out in the Broadway stage with opening night on the 15th of November.
Robert De Niro was one of the co-producers who brought the popular Queen " We Will Rock You " musical to the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas years back but unfortunately it didn't duplicate the same success it experienced in London.
