My computer has become the recent owner of a particularly insidious Adware porgram that I can only identify as VX2/f -- this is an annoying little program that seems to re-install itself on reboot.

Any suggestions on how to rid myself of this?

Thanx Jim,

I've been to downloads.com and ran spyaudit, and found two cases of adware on my pc, but no trojoans or system monitors etc.

Next stop, lavasoft

I had a similar problem just recently. What a pain in the ass, eh?
Here`s what I did upon various advice:

- download and run SpyBot, it`s free
http://www.spybot.info/

- download and run SpyWareBlaster, it`s free and it doesn`t hurt to have two or three anti-spy/anti-adware loaded on your machine:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com

- change Security settings on IE so that ActiveX and Java are only started upon your yes-or-no

- downloaded freeware version of ZoneAlarm firewall:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp

- switched to Mozilla`s browser, which includes a built-in pop-up blocker:
http://www.mozilla.org/

You want to install adaware get the updates and then run it. delete all that it finds......if running XP turn off the restore feature. then even though you are hopefully running virus software go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and run their scan. this will find any trojans or malware that ad-aware may have missed.

RESTART your pc and run adaware one more time.......all should be good.
