Hi Board. I am moving to Vancouver from the US and want to get the lay of the land, so to speak. I have been enjoying this hobby for many year in the states, but have always been extremely careful. My questions are these:

Is it true that prostitution (such an awkward word) is legal in Canada? Or is it technically illegal but not enforced? In the states, one has to always be wary of police stings or providers who get caught by the police and then spill the beans on their clients. I am hoping that this isn't a problem in beautiful Vancouver.
Also, I have always been fond of incall locations (asian massage parlors, but not necessarily limited to Asian, and certainly not limited to massage!). Any special safety tips for this particular outlet?

In short, what should I be aware of when contacting girls for this fabulous hobby in Canada?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Buddy,

If moving from the U.S. to Vancouver, it would probably be wise to evolve a little bit in this biz, to where you might 'host' (at hotel or home) the woman of your choice. For should you dial such a person and have her come to visit you, there is nothing illegal about the process (*that is ever enforced - though technically, if either of you is on a cell phone for that call, it would be illegal).

As you're in a new area, it just might be wise to go by the books at least until you might gain better familiarity with the city and the business as it works in the city.

(oh, and I'm sure you'll catch sight of the striking gals standing outside downtown on/near Richards street... they're usually high-priced rip-offs, but the looking is entertaining there for a while)

Prostitution is legal in Canada. Certain aspects around it are illegal. The following is illegal

1. Solicitation in a public place. I am pretty sure that cell phone calls are considered private, so no worries

2. Running a common bawdy house. If you search the forums, you will see that parlors sometimes get police just dropping by to check things out, and sometimes arrests are made, if there are signs of sex.

3. Living off the avails. This law is supposed to make it hard for human traffickers to operate, but in reality it can mean anybody who happens to live with you.

If LE needs a court order / search warrant to go there, or listen in, it isn't a public place. So yeah, A telephone, wired or wireless, is a private means of communications. LE might use a scanner to listen in on cell calls & may try to trick some poor schmuck into believing they can actually use it as evidence to get him to set up an SP / bawdy house, but I've never heard of it happening. I've lead a very sheltered life in this regard. :)

The concern here wouldn't be that LE would (be able to) listen in. If the call could be overheard by random citizens using similar or other equipment then that is the point of contention, and the part which would make it illegal, if unenforceably so.

If you and your working girl are negotiating for sex in somebody's front room - you can say it is private property all you want to but once the homeowner doesn't want you there and doesn't approve of your sex-for-pay negotiation, then you're in deep water.

Just like condoms in your flower bed, the intent of the law is clear to understand, and it's about protecting the innocent, general public, and not about LE needing a search warrant to confiscate the condoms under your daisies.

Yeah, but who does that?

Thanks everyone for the great advise. Outcall to my hotel sounds perfect. Barring that, it sounds like going to the girl's incall location is also fine as long as it isn't a place where multiple girls are working (like my beloved AMPS). Is that right? I can't really host at my home, and renting a hotel room increases the hassle-factor incredibly.

Thanks again for the help,

Buddy

I think you are pretty safe in Vancouver. There are some great independants with great incalls. That is probably the cheapest and safest. Next would be out calls, but amp's are fine. They have a routine if the police come. When I worked at Le Mirage [for 2 days.] Its not a AMP, but I'm pretty sure they all have similar procedures. All the rooms had a cloth over a window in the door. A red light would go off in the room if the cops did a walk through. You jumped up, took the material off, and threw on a robe and covered the guy. The cops would just look in the window. There was a whole procedure that they made sure you knew about. They are licensed for body rub and the cops pretty much know whats going on but if they don't catch you in action, they can't prove you are doing more.
