Advice for Bachelor Party in Vancouver

I'm the best man for my friend's wedding and I'm trying to plan his bachelor party. The wedding is in Seattle, but we're heading up to Vancouver for the party. I live in Brooklyn, NY and have no idea where to go in Vancouver (been there once though - amazingly beautiful city). Some of the members of our party are more adventurous than others so I guess what we're looking for is a strip club-like atmosphere where drinks and lap dances are readily available, but other things are definitely on the table for a price - preferably with some hot girls too (we're willing to spend a little). Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

As an advance payment I'll give you some advice for NYC strip clubs. Don't bother. Rudy Giuliani may be the hero of the World Trade Center, but he's the villain of Times Square. He destroyed the strip clubs in this city.

For lap dances, Paramount is probably your best bet.
No alcoholic beverages though. Best to get buzzed up before going.

search brandys. i read that it is a rip off now. there is some sort of scam going on with the bouncers and it will cost you to sit at one of the good tables. something like $200cdn. what a joke. for my money id go to the mugs and jugs in new west and it is just two blocks from the paramount. there is usually a cover to get into the paramount. im not sure how much it is now. many years ago a buddy of mine left the paramount with a wet leg from where the dancer was grinding on it. i have heard that it is much tamer now though. if you go make sure to get the 2 for 1 lapdances. otherwise, it can get a little expensive for 3 1/2 minute songs.

2¢ advice

Here's what I'd do.
Walk into a low down dump of a bar on Hastings street east side.
Politely gab with the bartender and ask how business is doing. He'd probably give you a sob story of how crappy things are with his business. THEN, give him an offer of buying the bar room for 1 night, say $500 bucks or whatever. He'd be most receptive. There you go, a whole bar with beer without prying eyes, you can ask half of the online SP's to drop in for lap dancing. Go nuts

Thanks for all the input so far. Wow, lap dances are expensive in BC. In NY standard rate is $20 per song (about 5 minutes). I've also read a little about Swedish Touch, but it sounds pricey and a little unpredictable. Has anyone been to a house like Swedish Massage that they could recommend. Is Swedish Touch worth the cash?

My buddy had his stag last year at Brandi's. The key is to call ahead and make a booking... stag's pretty much guarantee people drinking and buying lap dances so they do like it. If you tell the bouncer's you are with the "xxx stag party", they won't give you much hassle. Any other time, they always give you a hard time.

Its even better if you have the dinner dinner at Hy's Encore (the steaks are pricey but well worth it), which is about 100 steps from Brandi's. Have the waiter call ahead to tell them you are coming, and it all goes pretty smooth.

If you're up to it, sometimes at Hy's you can book the upstairs room, and have your own party and invite some SP's along.

Number 5 Orange is it

I expect you and your friends will want to be downtown, not in the burbs. If that is the case, go to the Number 5 Orange on Main (ask any cab driver). I had a great time there with 20 American friends at a bachelor party last month. Dances are a bit expensive at CAN $40 but they are full nude and allow full contact throughout and you may be able to negotiate for multiple songs or more and you will not leave disappointed.

Definitely do not go to Brandy's, unless you want every member of your party to get extorted for $20 a piece by the bouncers (not including cover) and you like watered-down drinks and zero-contact lap dances. Even if you call and get to skip the extortion, the other 2 are deal-breakers IMO.

Rather than a downtown massage parlor I suggest doing some research here and calling some independent ladies to come to your hotel for more late-night fun. For nice and hip hotels, try The Opus or the Pacific Palisades (both are about CAN$150 a night for large rooms with hip, Hotel-W style decor and fancy lobby bars).

In the interest of exploring all my options - does anyone have any opinions about the Portland scene? I've heard it's got the most strip clubs per capita in North America. Must be a club there that would fit the bill.

This plan sounds good. Brandis has the hottest girls by far. It costs more, but I would think if you are coming from New York for a stag, then money is no object? The cool thing is the Groom can go one floor down to the Swedish Touch and get some action. Well worth the $$ for the proximity of the evening. Places like the Paramount are pretty dumpy, but there are lotza lap dances to be had.

I never really went to any of the clubs in Times Square. That area at the time was mainly full of crack hos and trannys. The clubs were pretty sleazy overall from what I've heard. The better places in NYC are in the outer boroughs. One place I'd recommend here is New York Dolls. Hot women, $20 lap dances, and a VIP room where you definitely won't get FS, but you'll get to touch whatever you like and will have a nice time (pricey though - $300). Actually, listening to some of your opinions about the Vancouver scene, and from what I've read about Seattle, my opinion of the NY clubs has increased.
