accommodation in NYC?

Hi all:

Just curious if anyone knows of any cheap accommodation in mid-town Manhattan. Most of their hotels are $175 USD and up and I'm staying there for two weeks in mid-August. I'm trying to see if I can find anything that's under $90 USD. Most hostels charge below $50 per night but it's like 6-8 ppl in a room... Don't think I'd like that unless they're ~A~ and Ingrid next to me... Well, but then the other people may not be able to sleep all night...

Any suggestions?

Hey, Colada;

I know Manhattan really well. Try the Amsterdam Inn, 340 Amsteredam Ave. (@W. 76th St.). I did, and found it very rewarding. The Upper West Side is the new Upper East Side - very cool. The club where Seinfeld started is literally around the corner (I did that, too, on my last visit). Your'e right on the subway, as well (it's the A-Train of Ellington fame!)
