i miss all the clubs.... we used to go out on Wednesday nights and do a tour....appetizers and show lounges....so fun...and a reason to dress up!!

It used to be so much fun around Vancouver.

I'd have biz associates fly in to work with me and their only goal was to spend time at the Drake and No 5.

Always high quality dancers and great females around those bars.

The religious right bought a few of those bars with the intent on shutting it down. Only the 5 remains and it just doesn't have the same vibe.

I am dating myself badly, but I remember the 2 dollar nights at the NBI, the waitresses at the Drake, the smoking upstairs rooms at the Marble Arch that put the 5 to shame, and drinking half my rent money at the Mugs and Jugs and Moondancer. Between the city being predatory and buying some, that mormon who bought the arch, the out and out bribe the city gave the developer to retire the Cecil's licence and the internet, it's harder and harder to find good clubs anywhere. Even mods were young once. This video brought back a ton of memories, thanks for posting it susi.

Now I wonder what I had missed out... I mean number 5 is still decent for shows and for some touching upstairs. Their food menu was God awful the last few months...

Now the only 2 places that even do a proper lap dance, never mind the contact for the client, are the 5 and Paramount...

The Penthouse was my favourite. There were a few others in the seventies that were good, but Penthouse was the best.

A little known fact is the upstairs at the 5 was a party place before they developed it into another profitable place. The dancers would discretely invite fun patrons upstairs

I recall hearing from a friend they went up to the roof top for 420 with a few of the dancers. The dancers would tan on the rooftop and one of the adjacent buildings housed some law courts. So on one side you had topless dancers and the other lawyers and judges peering down at them.
