I recently had a regular client of mine express that he wanted to see me, but at the moment did not have access to funds. He has wealth, but for whatever reason, couldn’t use it. We discussed this and came up with the idea of a gift of value. For our session, I received a new Ipad 3. I’ve never done this before, exchanging services for a gift and I really liked it. I felt appreciated and enjoyed our time together. A bit of luxury that I wanted.

So I’ve decided that I will consider “trades of value” with regular clientele. I’m curious if anyone else has tried this. :)

I don't see any problem with this. As long as you stay up with the classier trades. I met a lady who would give a blow job to get a ride downtown. No I didn't give her the ride, lol!

I suppose it is all a matter of perspective, a ride downtown from say ... Chilliwack is definitely worth a swallow or two...

LOL

I think this is a great idea, I understand his problem, there are times when $300 from the chequeing will raise an eyebrow, even though most times it would go unnoticed, but if a $600 purchase from Best Buy or Futureshop was on the card it would totally go unnoticed, I think it is a great idea....

There have been previous posts discussing services for services, is that acceptable to then, or does the trade have to be items of monetary value?

It seems kind of strange that he could pay for an iPad, yet couldn't access cash. Presumably, he used a credit card to pay for the iPad, so one would think that he could have used the same card to get a cash advance. As for his SO checking the statements, surely a large purchase would also necessitate a credible explanation and producing the item purchased.

Bartering for sex - what will they think of next? :D

Anyway, all's well that ends well.

I'm guessing dude probably had a wife who looks over the household finances with a microscope lol. Some women also regularly sniff their partners' clothing and check their bills to check if they're cheating in addition to regular snooping and invasion of privacy ha.

right on the line
I'm still a pooning virgin (making plans - making plans!!), but in the back of my mind, I was thinking about - if I had great service at my first, that I might tip via barter. lemme explain.

I don't have a lot of savings, but what I do have I tend to buy gold and silver with (well mostly silver, gold's kinda expensive!) My dad did the same, and its proven to be a much better long term investment than having money in a bank savings account giving 0.5%. I like a lot of things old school and such, and entertained the idea of flipping a silver maple leaf coin (or two) towards the lady as a thank you, like the old west heheh. Last year, that would have been a 45$ (90) thanks, now close to a 35$ (70) thanks. Do you think most SPs would get a kick out of this, or go WTF am I going to do with this!!??!! I wouldn't want to offend!

All depends on the lady I think. Some might appreciate the gesture while others might be a bit put off. Thorough discussion beforehand should help you avoid any debacles prior or post-session lol.

Certain gifts and gift certificates are even better than cash for me :)
I agree! I'm saving up and trying to collect airmiles for a biggish trip next year, I've considered trading airmiles for session time... Overall, I think it's a great idea for things I need and use... If it works for both people, why not :)

I have done this occassionaly in the past, and for exactly the reasons mentioned......some things are more easily hidden than others. Most times it was with someone that I had seen for awhile, and whom I had a very good relationship with. Some of the items were , co-op Gas Card as partial payment ( I saw her every 2 weeks for almost 3 years)...leather coat , pre-paid mastercard, gift card as partial payment, a spa treatment, ....traded my line of work ..for hers as she had use for what services and goods I provided.....both provided the other a "wholesale price"....... etc.
Worked out great for both parties, as bartering is a fantastic way to be able to afford some things , that otherwise might not be as easily attainable. Also some items my business can pay for , and possibly even write off, and no one will be the wiser.
I also have had a sp get extremely upset when I just mentioned the idea to her , and got verbally a good tongue lashing , even though I thought we had a good connection previous to that! So be wary if you suggest it.

I have a Bank Visa, which I use for almost all purchases and get the bank's visa points.. These can be exchanged for Gift Vouchers and I've found that $50 La Vie en Rose cards make exceedingly good 'tips'.. I've never tried to negotiate using multiples of them as full payment though.

I recently bought a small gift "mini soccer ball" for my aft's 2yr old kid's birthday, she loved the thought and took things up a notch which i didn't think was possible in our sessions!

As far as trading, why not as long as the value is there!

Im no stanger to trades as well :) .. sometimes people are given things as gifts and such.. and already own them.. so if it's something Id like and dont have Ill take it..... as well as gift cards for items Id have to other wise pay for.. granted that I check the cards to make sure the amount stated is actually on them.

I have done the same as well :) sometimes just easier to deal with the extra goodies, as long as everyone is happy that is the only thing that matters. If both parties feel that they are being treated fairly it is a win win :)

I have enjoyed this concept a few times now but there has been a few odd requests lol. Umm and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings because surely they will know that I am referring to them once I spill what was offered lol But I will tell you all one item offered..........drum roll please........................FISH! lol yup I am not kidding. I think it may have been a misunderstanding but its still hilarious!
