A loonie to put air in my bike tire.. a little rant.

Now I am willing to donate whatever I can
to the many charitable organizations that are out
there. Volunteers have worn a path across my lawn
up to my front door asking for donations. But I think
this is taking things too far. What if you don't have a loonie.
I am here to get air for my tire, not to be shaken down for a
donatiion. Oh this happened at a gas bar, BTW.
I guess when some one does come up to my door
to do some canvassing for what ever, I guess I could
say, that I gave at the Gas Bar

Ya pay for air is retarded plus they are pretty useless for filling up anything bigger then a bike tire. Put in my money then tried to fill up my rear truck tire but 70psi was about 40psi more then this little piece of crap pay for air thing could do. Checked 8 different gas stations but all the same useless piece of crap.

The one thing I noticed is that once they started to charge for air, the pumps tended to last longer than when it was free.

You mean you actually have gas stations that have working air???????? I thought those days had long gone......;) (4 gas stations, not one had working air).

I think it is way past simple greed when you start being charged for, of all things....air.

I totally agree on this. The shitty state of Alberta roads = broken windshields and leaking tires. Finding a free air pump is nothing short of annoying. When it's cold in winter half the time the things are frozen solid even after you insert the dollar coin . Petro Can and Husky are the worst. The best is CO OP. I guess they figure since they're "Albertan" they need to offer air as a service still. Given that Petro Can, Husky, etc make billions sucking oil out of our province, how about letting me pump up my tire with free air. You suck.
That is why I nerver notice these money grabbing air pumbs last winter. 1) I new they would be out of commission when it was really cold. So I will went to Kal tire for air in the
winter

There's the odd road that's in less than stellar shape, but overall Alberta's roads are far superior than other provinces.
You want shitty? Head just over the border to Saskatchewan.

Go to Canadian Tire and get a little portable pump with an adapter for your car's cigarette lighter, AC/DC outlet. They are slow, can take several minutes to fill up your tire if it's significantly low but you can use them anywhere.

You want shit roads try Nova Scotia.

I am ashamed of a socalled Canadian company who is raping our country's natural resource and has the nerve to turn around and charge for such a nominal service.

This is exactly why they are charging.

Now, you could argue that it should be wrapped up in the cost of doing business...

First saw this in the US, more than a couple of years ago. Not sure what you do if you don't have the coins. I just thought it was an odd thing.

The prices of everything go up and the services go down.

I have had trouble finding the air as well. Now, I have the nitrogen and Big 'O' does it for free all the time.

I notice I don't check my oil so much anymore and I miss full service stations...I have to put a sign on my front door so in the morning I can check it. I drive a lot with 'other' job and I noticed it was 4,800 km between oil top ups...oops!

When I first arrived in Calgary in '79 and was driven from the airport we had to go around pot holes you could sink a truck in. I asked "why are you taking me the back roads?" To which my driver answered "This is the freeway"
