Just to get your attention :D :D

A call for help....

I am sure you guys are aware, being educated and reading the papers that there has been a MAJOR crisis in Asia.
I think as citizens of a first world country. It is important we help the less fortunate in the world!!! I am just posting a topic to encourage you guys to make a donation to the red cross. It is rather tragic what has happened over there and things could get really bad if disease breaks out. The water is contaminated with disease and hundreds of thousands are expected to have died already. It could easily double if they do not raise enough funds. The fact is these people were struggling to survive before the diasaster and now that it hit, it just puts the heat on them!!! It really is tragic and saddening. The thing that we neglect is that this tragedy could become worse without support.

Actors/actresses/athletes have all made a donation. Be a star and do it too!

It may not have affected you living in canada, but it may have affected you or your neighbours relatives!! Think about it. If a natural disaster of that proportion struck Edmonton (god forbid) would you appreciate help?? If you give, you deserve to receive.

Fred zed has posted a board wide announcement... I just want to bring this attention to us pooners here in Edmonton. Most of us are fairly well off to be able to afford this hobby. Think about it, a donation can be as large or small as you want, and all that is needed is a fraction of a session!! A few dollars will go a long ways towards reaching the billions necessary to rebuild etc!!!

Tomorrow I will make a donation to the Red Cross and hope our pooner brothers /special sps do the same!! A few dollars is nothing to us, but it could mean a lot to someone in dire need. We are very fortunate and we shouldn't be selfish. A human life is worth more than the few dollars you can spare. Its the least you could do to give back for what we have in Canada.

Thanks for your time. I just hope I can do a bit to help those that are in desperate need, thats why I posted this.

This is in the review section just to make sure you read it. It really is a dire situation. Watching the news makes me sad and i realize how lucky we are.

A hidden gem

We are indeed very lucky to be in Canada and agree with the sadness of such destruction but as the papers reported yesterday there has been a more serious situation which everyone is ignoring. Far more people are dying on a regular daily basis in the Congo in Africa than this single tragedy and maybe we should be looking at that as well. Over 30,000 a day are dying from starvation.

I've already donated and Sinderella's has started a collection among the girls to contribute as well. We all have to do our part and take care of our fellow men/women. Just to be born in Canada is a blessing.
You're right hobknob... I've decided to split my donation and send some cash to Africa as well. They seem to be forgotten.

If you are a regular pooner, I'm sure one could sacrifice a single session. I will do this once I find the time to get down to the Red Cross so I can donate face-to-face.

So this weekend, I donated the cost of a FS session to the Red Cross. I encourage you other pooners to do the same.

Yes, I too donate to the RedCross - before the 'old year' was out!

Good show Wolverine and the Sinderellas bunch!

Every $$ is needed over there (I lived in that part of the world for some years - working, too hard).

I donated some to the Red cross and donated some to Sinderellas on behalf of their fund (i specifically added this onto my tip and i believe they might still do this if they are still collecting). Thanks you guys. My call has worked to some degree! I am sure people in asia appreciate good souls like you.

Good job all. I think the Canadian government has donated more than the US government from what I read. That is pretty impressive! Even at the university, with starving college students money was raised which is another good feat. Everybody is joining together. But like hobknob says there are other things we should look at. I think AIDS is a major thing, because in africa it is huge problem. China and India will have a huge problem with aids in the future too!
