Yesterday was a really bad day for me. My best friend was in an accident and is now in a hospital in Saigon. I tried to send payment for her hospital, but discovered ALL of my credit cards are blocked.

Apparently I have been a victim of identity theft.

So I hit the minimart to see if I can transfer something over to her in another way.

While I am there, somebody literally steals my phone out of the side pocket of my purse and runs.

I am not chasing down a super sketchy looking person in this environment, And just let out and exasperated sigh.

This lady who has come in with her partner, I’m not sure if they’re homeless or not, but that was the vibe, Just cashed out her disability check.

She is in a wheelchair, looking very frail, with an IV running into her arm. She has no hair, and how big is on her lap as she’s brushing it out.

She opens up her wallet of her just cashed disability check and tries to give me $50. She’s even more upset by the theft than I am. And she wants to help me get a new phone.

I just broke down crying. This environment is really magnifying the character of people. This woman who clearly has not been handed a good hand in life, who literally has every reason to be angry at the world, Is actively trying to help out other people. Such a beautiful soul!

It was such a beautiful reminder that it doesn’t matter what life hands you, each one of us has the choice, each and every moment to contribute and interact in the world through either love or fear.

I hope everyone has a beautiful day, Finding appreciation and gratitude regardless of the situation!

This really is beautiful. Thank-you SO MUCH for sharing.

Yes, there are still bright spots and good things (people) in our world if our eyes are open to them.

I got something in my eye as I was reading this. Must be because of all this spring pollen in the air.

Thank you for telling us your story Angel. I do hope your friend in Saigon is OK. And I hope that getting your credit cards sorted out isn't too frustrating.
