Yep DD....Thats next on the agenda....Bucket training.
I stuck with the bottle in hopes she would transfer over to the mother.

Oh, and you've probably heard this one being a farm kid..."Suuuuure ...You used your fingers! Why is your fly still down ?"

I wore tall gummies, but we didn't raise no sheep. :)

There's nothing thats more trouble than a 13 year old farm kid.
I grew up in Hutterite slippers myself...I still walk around curling my toes, so my boots don't fall off.

Same thing happens with human babies; if, for whatever reason, the mother has to switch to the bottle for a spell it can be nearly impossible to get them back on the breast. Bottles deliver the milk with way less effort on the part of the infant...so they dislike having to work harder to get the milk.

I remember when hubby showed up at the farm with a 5 day old calf in the back of the sports car...yup...he wandered into an auction and felt sorry for the little critter...so, it was bottle feeding every 4 hours or so, but I didn't do a night shift. It all worked out. They sure can sock you in the gut trying to punch the bottle, though eh?
