The endless collection of media reminisence and documentaries has already started, and will build all week until Sunday. Expect lots of stories of heroes at the World Trade Center, some discussions of the state of world terrorism today, and whether or not we are prepared for more terrorist attacks. Expect general recaps of events.
Do not expect substantive discussions on:
- How the American reaction to 9/11 has contributed to destroying their economy and their respect in the rest of the world.
- How the "Homeland Security" business empire has overtaken badly needed expenditures on crime and the justice system.
- How supposedly freedom-loving people are so willing to give up their freedoms in the name of "security" -- false security at that, for the most part.
- How living in fear has replaced optimism
- The everpresent discrimination faced by Muslims in the West
- Whether the financial cost of "The War on Terror" is remotely reasonable given the risks, compared to the very real life-threatening risks that abound.
