The punishment is excessive. The fact they the law allows this shows the political clout of the music industry.

In Canada, we have another form of injustice: taxes are collected on blank CDs and distributed to artists and recording companies. Basically consumers are assumed guilty of illegally copying, and of course there's no way to prove you're innocent.

That actually does not bother me too much since most blank removable media is used to illegally copy music/DVDs/games anyways. Heck, I have at least 10 albums that are on blank CD's myself*

*I should point out that most of those are artists that I have bought, am buying, or intend to buy in the future, and that I am in no way endorsing illegally downloading or copying media.

LOL if they went after her for all 1700 songs on her computer she'd owe $136 million.

Maybe she can sell them her kids so they can turn them into some crappy manufactured pop group.

Over 2 hands plus a mouthful big
You know if you walk into a Best Buy and walk out with 50 CDs and then go home and burn copies for all your buddies you wouldn't get a penalty as severe as this.

You probably wouldn't get a penalty as severe as this if you also blew up the store behind you as you walked out.
