METRO VANCOUVER — Police have identified the female discovered in the bushes off King George Boulevard in Surrey on June 9 as 41-year-old Teri-Lyn Williams also known as Toni Williams.

Williams was a known sex trade worker but it is not known whether she was "applying her trade in the Surrey Central area," said Cpl. Dale Carr with the Integrated Homicide Investigative Team in a press release Wednesday.

She had a residence in Calgary but travelled back and forth between B.C. and Alberta, police said. Prior to the murder she was known to have been in Vancouver on Nov. 9, 2009. Police have a record of her being in Calgary on December 15, 2009.

Carr said police know that she vacated her residence in Calgary in mid April 2010 and investigators are looking to track her movements from mid April to the discovery of the deceased body, Carr said.

Williams was the registered owner of a silver Mitsubishi Outlander but the registration expired at the end of December and there is no record of the vehicle being registered since then.

Police have given no indication how she died. She is described as a mixed race woman with shoulder length dark hair, five-foot-two and 126 pounds.

From Wikipedia

Female prostitutes are at risk of violent crime,[51] as well as possibly at higher risk of occupational mortality than any other group of women ever studied.

For example, the homicide rate for female prostitutes was estimated to be 204 per 100,000 (Potterat et al., 2004), which is considerably higher than that for the next riskiest occupations in the United States during a similar period (4 per 100,000 for female liquor store workers and 29 per 100,000 for male taxicab drivers) (Castillo et al., 1994).

Vancouvers murder rate per 100,000 is 2.8. Toronto is 2.0. Detroit Michigan, considered the most dangerous city in America is 42 per 100,000.

Now, imagine if that rate existed for any other profession....
If you exclude all the drug addicts, then what are the stats?

I wonder how many of the murders are drug related.

Wow. This is terrible. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this was Bill Russel escalating his violence.

Every single time I think there is no possible way you could get any more offensive, stupid, and distasteful, you just open your mouth and blow any amount of hope I have for you out of the water.
I can't feel badly about someone who took part if such risky behaviour. From the looks of it she was doing car-dates in surrey for un-checked clients with no personal protection. However I am not justifying her murder.

she were your family member? Don't judge people by appearance or what they do. She may have took the wrong path made mistakes she did not deserve to die. I worked with SW's for a year and a half, 80% were substance abuse users/addicted. Did she have a network, people she can trust. From my expereince these women come from violence, broken families, jail, somewhat little lost people so to speak they need to feed the emotions with drugs..makes it all go away. talk to them get to know them they are "are real" people with real goals and dreams, and put on a tough girl act..but get to know them on a personal level you would want to save them. No one deserves to have there life taken, ever.
I wouldn't be as emotional as half the people in this thread. Drugs, violence, broken family, jail isn't an excuse for 20 years of poor choices. She had hundreds of chances to turn her life around but lacked the self control to take advantage of the opportunities laid out for her. If she had a mental disorder I would sympathize but she didn't. Your right, she didn't deserve to die.

The fact that you can so openly admit that you will show no compassion, understanding, or mercy to a human being simply because they do not meet the proverbial line of morals you've drawn in the sand saddens me.

She may not have made the greatest choices in life and she may have her own reasons for that (which do not need to be justified to the likes of you), but she still did not want to die. She did not put herself into these risky situations out of pleasure or a desire to, but out of need and even addiction-induced desperation.

I can not possibly imagine where anyone could be so cold as to not care to see her as a human. To insinuate that she was responsable for her murder and to show no sympathy because of that is disjusting. I don't care if she was the least safe person on the planet! Just because someone's death could have been prevented with their own actions, does not give anyone the right to act so distasteful and insult the memory of the person.

A guy working at a chemical factory could die at work due to his own negligence, but that does not mean that people show up at his funeral to say "well, he did it to himself". We all know that she probably wasn't the safest woman in the world! We don't care! It's still a woman's life that was lost!

It is SO distasteful that you can not show some respect for a woman you had not only not even met but also are very aware that you're showing this disrespect IN HER MEMORIAL TOPIC! That says something about you to people. Go peddle your bullshit somewhere else and take it out of this topic!
You'll think the way you want and their is no changing that.

And you're basing that on her picture? Because there's nothing in the news article that mentions whether she was addicted to drugs, or whether she was a SW.
