No, the New York Knicks are not going to contend this year but when you are making 100 grand shy of 22 million for one year I think you owe it to the coaches and the dude that signs your check to go out and play. He is completely healthy but threw at hissy fit because he is a head case.

21.9 million dollars for one year! Not a lifetime but one year, and he isnt really that fucking good either. Only Lebron, Kobe, Jordan deserved that kind of cash.

I support salary caps and reduced ticket prices! :D Anyone with talent would be willing to play for far far less. The industry simply needs to stop enabling these greedy selfish people and look for decent players with a love of the game. But what do i know, I only make a 5 figure salary and prefer to watch college level sports for cheap seats.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but it reminds me of something I heard this morning on the radio...apparently the LA Dodgers owner got up at some meeting and and asked if it seems weird in a slumping economy to give Manny Ramirez 30 million a year and should they continue with their plan to build baseball fields for inner city youth or spend the money on Ramirez.......WTF

Professional sports is just so out of touch with reality.......

Stephon Marbury is just another ingrate on a long list of spoiled atheletes that have clearly forgotten where they came from!!

This is Karma getting back at Starbury, he was drafted by the Timberwolves, him and KG were one of the best one, two punches in the league and then asked to be traded because he couldn't be the second highest paid player on his team.

The one good thing about Starbury is his shoes cost $9.99. His and Shaq's shoes fight over floor space at Wal-marts, Targets and Zellers all over North America

the don't do the negotiation

None of these guys do their own negotiating but instead their agents do it on their behave. Listen to them being interviewed and it's clear they don't have the brains to negotiate multi-million dollar deals.

That said - go to any major sport in the US and you'll see a sea of fat guys wearing XXXL jerseys they paid $150 bucks for sitting in $500 corporate seats. The networks line up to get broadcast rights and millions at home watch pay per view. It's a business plain and simple. it used to be sports when the fans had to get a jersey by hanging around waiting for players to 'give' them one.

All this has resulted in fantastic amateur and junior sports because of the exposure and money from sponsorship. The Giants are great to go see and it's a bargain compared pooning:)

Does this piece of shit know what some people do in this world for money? Has Stephon Marbury lost his mind. Someone is willing to pay you 21 million bucks to bounce a basketball ball! And you have the balls to say " Nah, I'm not in the mood today"!
Don't blame Marbury for getting $21 million. Blame the ownership that's paying him that amount. He can't be criticized for getting that amount. It's management you should be angry at.

Having said that, if a player refuses to play then suspend him without pay.

your mom says hi.
unfortunately the nba is a lost cause in my opinion, and this is coming from a basketball guy. coming up i ate, breathed and slept this game only to see it degenerate into what it has become today.

almost none of these players in the game today can hold a candle to the players of the 80's and 90's in many key area's like class, professionalism, character, on court style and talent.

when people talk about michael jordan outside of basketball, the word most commonly used is "class" hardly any of these players have it.

now for your viewing pleasure, one of the greatest players of the 90's.

thing is i didn't say class and professionalism with kemp. i said one of the greatest players of the 90's which is pretty much indisputable. however, shawn kemp has since made amends with many of his past deeds.

also who can deny his on court style????? :p
