"The purpose of birthright citizenship in the U.S. is to guarantee automatic citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil and subject to its jurisdiction, regardless of their parents' immigration or citizenship status.
This principle, established by the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, serves several key purposes:

  • Ensures Equality and Prevents Caste Systems: It prevents the creation of a permanent, non-citizen underclass by ensuring that all children born in the U.S. are full citizens, a direct repudiation of the Dred Scott decision which denied citizenship to African Americans.
  • Promotes National Unity and Integration: It quickly integrates the first generation born in the U.S. into society, fostering a cohesive national identity.
  • Provides a Clear Path to Citizenship: It offers a simple and unambiguous way to prove citizenship—typically with a birth certificate—making the process easy and accessible.
Birthright citizenship in the United Statesperson's acquisition of United States citizenship by virtue of the circumstances of birth
Wikipedia

Founding fathers intent?

The Founding Fathers did not define citizenship in the original Constitution, but they applied the principle of jus soli (right of the soil) from English common law, meaning birth within the nation's territory generally conferred citizenship.
The specific intent behind the Fourteenth Amendment's Citizenship Clause (1868), crafted by the generation after the Founding Fathers, was primarily to:

  • Overturn the Dred Scott decision and guarantee citizenship to formerly enslaved African Americans and their descendants.
  • Establish a national rule of citizenship that could not be denied by individual states.
  • Include children born in the U.S. to immigrant parents (domiciled aliens), ensuring they were not stateless.
  • Exclude only those with foreign allegiance, such as children of foreign diplomats, invading armies, or, at the time, members of sovereign Native American tribes."

Exclude…members of sovereign Native American tribes
Saw a magat politician being asked about Native citizenship. He was unsure whether they are citizens or not. Invalidating their citizenship might be a magat strategy to prevent them from voting.
Trump is already trying to control voters with his new (unconstitutional) law.

DEMOCRAT FRONT RUNNERS for POTUS

Democrats are poised to make some localized gains in Congress and Senate, however the party remains floundering with no clear leader for the 2028 Presidential Elections. More gnashing of teeth and Trump memes will not fix the deep void in democratic party leadership.

From the list of yawners, it will be interesting to see if a real strong electable leader will emerge, or if the party will remain confused and bewildered. Some current front-runners:

1. Newsom - likely a top front-runner for Dem Leader. Shits blue poop, but maybe a bit too left coast to gain traction in swing states?

2. Ocasio-Cortez - most likely to replace Sanders on the far left rant fanatic, but is the USA really ready for a socialist government? Lots of buzz likely before falling short of full support.

3. Harris? - Retread. Lost already. Invisible. Gotta be said—there is a chunk of the USA electorate that have shown they are not quite ready for female president yet. It will likely take a more stable situation to pass that bar. Black too? Obama broke that hurdle but he was a great speaker. Harris is a shitty speaker in comparison to Obama.

4. Whitmer - she will likely make a splash and have influence. Maybe eek one out???, then lose in the big race.

5. Shapiro - strong speaker, perhaps more centralist policies could gain him some traction. Being a jew may work both for and against him. Should we expect more campus Palestinian rallies?

6. Buttigeig - Could make a strong run, especially with younger voters. However, will swing states embrace a gay candidate? Not as media present as he used to be.

7+ Booker, Beshear, Gallego, Moore, etc. - Just not prime-time enough. Cannon fodder for the bigger guns to make it look like a stronger slate than it is.

Outlier: Cuban? Hey, people laughed shen Trump entered politics. And he won. Twice. So maybe Cuban could be the olive-branch centralist with street cred that the nation yearns for.

I’d like to buckle in for a wild ride, except it will likely be more like a senior’s walker race to the finish line. Think I will leave the seat belt off unless something happens to shake up a pretty ho-hum party.

Sounds like a democrat leadership crisis, with those contenders on the table.

Only someone who has never been in a gym would be impressed by a juicer benching 315.
It seems most of the MAGA's are on juice, angry and unable to take rational decisions.
That press secretary acts like she owns eveybody and treats journaists like shit, infact most of them are like that, they dont have basic human decency.

Hillary has actually been mentioned. So don't count her out yet. I don't think she stands any chance but she is in the Fray.

Bondi gave Epstein that sweetheart deal way back when.
Maybe some dirt on her is about to surface.
She's got a lot of skeletons in her closet.

Movie?? There are too many crimes and too many criminals to fit into one movie. It would have to be a multi-season show.
Debut episode season 1 -- grab em by the pussy. Season 1 -- press secretaries.
Season 1 special double length episode -- the lawyer, the billionaire, the pornstar.
Season 2 -- Adults in the room??
Season 3 -- FBI directors and attorney generals .......
Season 10 -- War.
Special season 10 feature length episode -- border security and the fuck plane.
.......

The funniest thing I’ve read today.

Crazy Maga evangelical: "Donald Trump is the Messiah, sent by God. You are all going to hell if you don’t believe”

World: "Ok, nail him to a cross and throw his dead body in a cave. If he comes out in three days we’ll admit we were wrong."

Happy Easter :)

She lost once already.
Lot’s of skeletons too.
Corrupt self-interested fundraising antics will get outed much deeper is she sticks her neck out.
Bad pants too. Lol.

If the best the Dem’s could do is to re-hash a has been loser, they deserve another loss.

My guess is Newsom is still the guy to beat. Weak though, in the big picture of geo-politics.

How stupid and brain dead MAGA could be:
1) Everyone in the current admin becoming rich with insider trading, corruptions eith every action.
2) Loyalist are being shred to shift the blame, just waiting their turn to be blamed.
3) Celebrating being ripped off with no addtional money coming from outside the country.
4) Being proud on decaying respect and alliances throughout the world.
and many more to list.

Newsom might be to far left. My money is on JB Pritzker with Mark Kelly being a darkhorse.
