Yeah, a Trump supporter asking if he's missing something. I had to laugh out loud with that one.

"Am I missing something?'" should be embroidered on the back of every MAGA cap.
Basically missing the Wizard of Oz trifecta: brains, heart and courage.

Simply to only way to make Canada economy boom:
1. Steel production has to go up at least 4X, along with that pig iron, both are contributors to CO2 production. For ships and building construction. And yes Canada makes less than 2% of World production of CO2..... So why are we punishing ourselves??
2. Energy sector has to increase 5-7 X, using nuclear and new hydro, dam the north (tech difficulties with permafrost and snow etc)
3. Delay conversion to electric car till 2070, with halfway point of 2060. Due to lack of electrical infrastructure.
4. HAVE TO GET THE BANKS OUT OF MORTGAGES AT COMPOUND INTEREST. Banks make most of their money from mortgages, most people in their lifetimes will spend 2-3 X the amount they bought their house for. That is a lot of money for the average person and family.
5. Banks should be lending to industry to make economy work.
6. As the north west passage is open longer, Canadian Armed forces will have to show they own the waters and land. This means shipbuilding for coast guard and navy and planes and satellites for the Air Force.
7. small business tax to go up
8. GST to go up
9. Alberta will need sales tax
10. All gas taxes to go to roads and infrastructure improvements not general tax revenue, like it is suppose to when tax was enacted on gas.
11. Cost of electrical energy to go to 9/10 cent/KWH across the country. Provinces need to look else where to make money.
12. One thing that is lacking in Canada is hand-skills (machining, woodworking, welding, knitting, etc), schools concentrate on computer and post secondary to get kids into college. Most kids don't go to college or drop out to affordability. or they are on drugs. But overall if you have a hobby, the price of things for hobby is expensive for the materials you need. Hand-skills are taught in colleges. Our Education systems need to be revamped.
13. Increase peoples self worth and situation, so they don't have to do criminal work, which a lot of young people seem to be going to, because of the obstacles that are put in their way if they don't come from well-off families.
14. IN Canada there are the HAVES and have-nots.... think about that. rules are made by the wealthy, so they keep their wealth, and they can afford lawyers if they want to bend the rules. Just like the US....
15. Build east-west pipelines for natural gas and oil.
16. Build at least 2 refineries 1 east, 1 in prairies for become self sufficient in oil and gas.
17. Make our own plastic materials. This is the biggest one of all.
18 Recycle plastic programs or the stuff we can't recycle melt into blocks for constructions project (retaining walls, etc.)

Why do Canadians depend on the government to make the economy do something?

Answer: The banks don't have a policy of lending money to people without assets, just collecting your hard earned money on your assets like houses.....

Mark Carney has chosen Gregor Robinson to be the federal housing minister. While Gregor was mayor, housing prices went through the roof and so did the taxes. He promised to eliminate homelessness and the number of homeless people nearly doubled by the time he left office. He made Vancouver "green" though so I guess it wasn't all bad. I will go out on a limb here and predict that he will say a lot of cool stuff and make some really big promises.
Unfortunately, we will be left with the same shitty results we got when he was mayor.

" They FORGOT to tell us that the Burrard inlet would need dredging to allow proper tankers that normally do Trans Pacific crossings with oil need deeper depth to get out once loaded"

A few more millions and we might get a full capacity...who knows. Someone here might be in the know !?!?

If you research this a little better, you’ll find that mayors don’t actually have a lot of control over housing prices. There was a lot Robinson wanted to do but couldn’t.

I think all of this is a wait and see. 💕

The problem is that 40 years ago, some people started flipping their houses. With the free capital gains and a higher selling price (because they fixed the house up), house prices started to rise. Today you can only do that 1 a year.
A second thing was real estate vendors, were selling over listed price, (every body been there the agent comes back and says you need to up your bid, if you want the house), especially if there was a housing shortage (seller market).
Cities created housing shortages for long term gain in taxes. Higer house price make higher taxes.
The bank assessor for the property, would intentionaly make sure the value always went up. Bank could then lend out more money.

Really lets say at every level it been about human greed.

No budget will be issued by the Federal Liberals this year. We the taxpayers will be given an "update". That's nice of them. Looks like they're going to try and fake it until they make it. Can we get Trudeau back? Haha...just kidding.

haha, research? why?

you were in a coma yesterday?

didn't hear the moron speak?

he thinks you can keep house prices high and increase the supply, while one would assume still bring in 1M people a year, cause he's a Liberal

nothing the tool could do?

yeah, it's called "leadership" being a leader, that's why there's a mayor, to lead, bring the others around to sense, hopefully

https://edmontonsun.com/opinion/col...et-seems-pretty-radical-and-not-in-a-good-way

here's an good example of it not happening pretty much on day one

with your new moronic pick, Carney, read it, try to dispute it, they're his picks, well mostly the Turds

but again, no difference in the approach, so get used to

high house $/low inventory/too much immigration, crime, drug addicts on the streets, being poorer

a recession, ect....with no reduction in the public service bloat, endless deficits/debt

economic boondoggles from picking and choosing who's worthy

look at the EV bullshit, Honda, yeah that's working great, batteries sure

look at the nut job, Steven, no more roads, now no more pipelines, cause they're not all full, well one, the one they had to buy, cause they fucked it up, it's not full yet, (which he lied about, it's not 40% full, it's 80%)

cause they own it and are trying to get all the money they overpaid for it back

yeah, leaders why would you want/expect them to lead

let's just lose another 10 years of people's lives

to wait and see

cause past performance isn't an indication of future performance

and you need another decade to decide

instead of action, like no budget for another year

"he's such a leader, I'd follow him to hell"

ffs, our country is fucked

go read the cunt Eby's delusions of leadership in his op-ed

he's had how many years already and done squat, talk, he's like Trudeau/Liberals/Carney

all hat no cattle

Vancouver sees steep drop in abandoned police calls

A citizen complained about waiting two hours on a non-emergency line to report a man lighting a fire on a sidewalk near Broadway and Collingwood.

Deputy Police Chief Howard Chow said at the April 24 police board meeting that while he sees "a bright future ahead" with changes at E-Comm, "one of the areas that we're still struggling with is the public aren't calling, particularly with non-emergency calls."

Better service attending in person under the Cambie Bridge at West 2nd Avenue. I met paralegals with a microphone behind a glass partition who can speak and understand English in short order. Times changed since my parents left the front door unlocked for me to come home from school to make lunch.

Gregor Robinson is a virtue signaling clown who made his fortune selling over priced fruit juice to birkenstock wearing earth firsters. As mayor he had everything to do with jacking up property takes. In the meantime, crime, homelessness and drug addiction all increased. I didn't need to "research" this, I lived through it. As far as waiting and seeing, I see that Gregor has already put his foot in his mouth. The guy is a train wreck.

I think housing is a really complicated issue.

If the government actively makes prices come down then people lose money on investments. Somebody’s always gonna be mad at the government.

The biggest problem with our market was not enough stock and too many buyers and housing flipping.

1. It would be great if renters had rent control tied to the unit and not the tenant. That is provincial and not federal.

2. Lower property taxes would be great. Probably would never happen with the liberals or the cons. The only party that is actually for the people is the ndp.

3. Carneys idea of building government housing puts more affordable housing on the market which brings down rents over all. That problem is only fixed if immigration also slows down. Which I understand has been slowed.

4. Air bnb laws were tightened and that was a huge contributor to our housing shortage. Air bnb is a problem worldwide. Taking rental stock off the market everywhere.

5. We still need tougher laws about who can own property. That would be nice if that happened. Probably won’t tho. More than once, I’ve paid rent to somebody in China or India lol. I think only tax payers in Canada should own properties.

Anita Anand calls the Israeli campaign to defeat Hamas, "aggression". The Liberals will look at you straight in the eyes and tell you black is white and up is down. They are ignorant and they have no shame. Bad combination.

Well Carney has already told another whopper. He quietly dropped most of the tariffs around April 16 but on the 27th he is on video still insisting they were in full effect to keep you elbows up guys in the dark before the election..

And the ones he left on are the ones that will affect the general public the most...on food, produce, clothing... Thanks Mark. Way to stand up for Canada!! Elbows up all you tough guys on here who wanted to teach America a lesson with reciprocal tariffs! And Frump just killed our aluminum industry by making a deal with the Saudis

Well they have to get the money they lost from the carbon tax on gas from somewhere to fund their corruption.... maybe this is where.

And there is not going to be a budget set for the entire year at a time when in Carney's election campaign he planned to increase spending by around 100 billion dollars over the next 4 years when we are already in massive debt and now he can do it without any accountability in parliament.

Meanwhile Trump just potentially killed our aluminum industry by cutting a deal with the Saudis and building a huge 4 billion dollar plant in Oklahoma. Way to defend Canada Mark! He told you he didn't need our shit anymore to your face and you just sat there with a nervous smile on your face. And yes Saudi Arabia does have an aluminum industry.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-she...iously-committed-1-4-trillion-uae-investment/

If you really think Carney cares about Canada at all you should have your collective hivemind brains examined. You may not buy what I am saying now but just wait a while. It will become obvious to all but hardcore Liberal boomers, a few of whom I believe are regular contributors to this thread.
