I agree. Carney had absolutely nothing to gain by getting into a confrontation with Trump, like Zelensky.

I think other countries and their leaders are realizing how to best deal with Trump. To his face, praise him and tell him what he wants to hear to stroke his ego.

Behind the scenes, try to find the adults in his administration (hard, I know), and try to find compromise to move things forward.
This was not what I was hearing from Liberals before the election result. It was all "Elbows Up!!! Stand up to Trump!!!

Again if PP had been elected and acted like that in front of Trump, effusively praising him like Carney did, you all would have pilloried him.

You were had.

Before the election the Liberals were swirling down the drain due to their horrible financial policies and corruption. Then Mark Carney, the chosen one, was anointed by the media even though he has not spent much time here since his birth.
They had no issues until Trump miraculously gave them one.....fighting against Trump and his tariffs which all of you eagerly bought into.

ELBOWS UP!!
DO NOT TRAVEL TO AMERICA
DO NOT BUY AMERICAN PRODUCTS
BOO THEIR NATIONAL ANTHEM THEY ARE NOW OUR ENEMY .
And you brought them all back......the guy who was instrumental in most of the terrible financial decisions which have led to Canada's stagnated economy and failed immigration policies as Trudeau's financial advisor for the previous 5 years and the entire cabinet that had been complicit in destroying the economy of the country for the last decade......

Carney is NOT the "adult in the room", that is the spin given to you to parrot from the CBC and other Canadian networks who benefit from the largesse of Canadian government hand outs and advertising and saw a potential end to it all if PP got elected and use as a cover for the blatant humiliation that Trump delivered him in front of world media..Again, I am not saying you have to get in a public fight with Trump but assertively make your case that he still needs your products and that was NOT done or even attempted.

And he fooled you. He had no intention of fighting against Trump it was simply to give him an issue he could win an election on knowing how many Canadians suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome...and it worked. He doesnt give a shit about you or Canada. He is a globalist who has lived most of his life abroad and will now use Canada as a testing ground for WEF policies of DEI, EV mandates, climate change regulations and re institute a carbon tax. It all worked perfectly and you all got suckered. He has already decided on having a gender equal cabinet and god knows where things will go from there. He is planning to double the deficit in his 4 year plan which will continue the massive inflation as, even now food prices continue to spiral out of control even on items not affected by tariffs. But then again, its what most people in this thread would want and voted for so good luck.

Again...it may take a year or two but many of you will regret casting your vote for someone who will be destructive like Trudeau but on steroids

The elbows up , buy Canadian, seek travel options other than the US and voice the facts about our economy/challenges ahead/ diversification/interprovincial barriers was never a liberals vs Conservatives thing .

The only difference is that the Liberals and Carney embraced it right away while Poilievre not wanting to distance himself from his far right maga supporting base was too timid to start ...add to that Poilievre should have kept his Maga loving Premier under control from the get go because as soon as he did his numbers shrunk the gap with the rest of the country.

Carney's behaviour in Washington was inline with someone who does not want to engage with the rhetoric and punchlines from a narcissist which anyone versed in human behavioural interaction knows . He simply stated the facts to correct the incorrect statements trump had been spewing for about 20 minutes. Like any guess in someone's house would do if in disagreement...and then you walk or move on to the issues in a different setting (private/neutral zone) for further discussions.

Stand up to Trump by not becoming the 51 state. By building Canada. By learning what works with Trump. By retaliatory tariffs. By not letting him push us around. However you can stand up to people using manners and diplomacy.

People that think the head of a country should be rude and aggressive are weird.

Carney did not effusively praise him. He called him transformative which is an absolutely nothing compliment. That was a great word to use because it swell trumps head but it doesn’t mean anything lol. Trump runs on praise. So praising Trump definitely works better then fighting Trump.

Where did I say he should be rude? I said assertive. I presume you do not understand the difference.

And nobody thinks that Canada will ever be the 51st state...not even Trump. It would never get through congress because neither party wants it.... especially Republicans.

What would be your answer ? Let's take it in the mouth answer ? What would be your game plan ?

Keep in mind that Canada has imposed tariffs on only 60 billions of US imports focusing on red states out 450 billions of annual imports from the US , we took US alcohol off the shelves and stopped taking bids from US companies for government contracts as dis most of the provinces.

Quick reminder that the UK import/export with the US compare to us is about 10% of what Canada US exchange represents...

He was assertive tho. He used tact, charm, and humor. He definitely was not meek. In life it’s important to pick your battles.

It’s funny how 2 people can watch the same video and depending on your bias, see 2 completely different things.

In real life, it’s almost impossible to ruffle my feathers. I also don’t respond to bait to fight. When people text me rude things, I don’t give them anything to tickle them with. I’m not catering to someone’s asshole fetish for free. Most stuff just slides off my back like water. But I can fight if I need to.

Trump likes to bait people into a reaction. He’s a bully. The best way to deal with a bully is to not rise to the bait. In order to actually work with Trump, we need a leader with the brains and the fortitude to know how to work Trump. He’s like deeply insecure bullies everywhere. Stroke his ego a little, don’t rise to the bait, don’t give in to his stupidity and respond with humor. I don’t think it was necessary to defend anybody except Canada as a whole. Which he did.

We are just gonna go back and forth on the topic ad infinitum and it’s getting a little boring. So I suggest to just not reply to my comments anymore and I won’t reply to yours. Have a great day 🩷

Premier David Eby confirmed he still intends to pass Bill 15 this month, following an hour-long meeting with Indigenous organizations who complained of a lack of proper consultation.

All I can do is listen to what people are saying to me, which is, we want you to grow the provincial economy, we want you to ensure we have good, high-quality services, and we want you to do it yesterday.”

Eby promised a similar show-down with critics over Bill 7, but later backtracked and gutted the bill to avoid criticism.
This time, it sounds like he intends to take the fight all the way.

Basic infrastructure schools and hospitals everybody should be taking for granted. Roads need to be lucrative routes for inter-provincial trade.

We will see what the next couple of years will bring. I think you will find over that period that Carney cares a lot more about the well being of Brookfield and the WEF than he does about Canada, a country that has just barely been his home and he could just break it apart. I hope not..I think that Smith is going to try to use the leverage of secession to Alberta's advantage but not go. But he will be Trudeau on steroids in terms of corruption and incompetence as the entire Liberal clown car of a government that ruined this country over the last decade remains intact.
Nobody is forcing you to reply. There is an ignore button you can use btw because this is a Canadian Political thread and if I see a subject in here I want to respond to...I will whether you like it or not even if it is something you said.👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

Contrary to you the majority of Canadians saw through trump's salvage operation to rescue Poilievre's campaign.

Too late now as one of the guys with the most knowledge and connection in the financial world took over.
Fifty-six percent of Canadians voted for parties other than the Liberals. Trump said he would rather deal with the Liberals (Carney) than the Conservatives. Trump literally said that he did not like Poilievre.
So we elected Carney and gave Trump what he wanted. So we are "standing up" to Trump but also giving him what he wants?
Am I missing something?

Everybody knows that trump was backing Poilievre including his cronies months prior if you followed the news and their statements. They saw their effect in the Canadian polls and changes their tune . If you started keeping track only in March of this year that is your problem. I won't tell you how to assess trump's statements...good on you if you believe.

Oh and 58% of people voted to keep the Poilievre out the big chair even switching from their normal voting pattern ( NDP, Bloc and Green) to shore up the liberals.

Yeah, a Trump supporter asking if he's missing something. I had to laugh out loud with that one.

"Am I missing something?'" should be embroidered on the back of every MAGA cap.

When Trump says something it’s almost always a lie. That’s what you overlooked.

yeah, now the reality is in focus

the guy picked all the Tru-Anon people to continue

all failures for the last 9+ years are in his Cabinet again

and the rest are left wing zealots still

so at least 2 more years of incompetence, just like with Trump

you should go back and look at the Turd for 9 years

and the last 3 months of Carney, he's basically almost as bad

he showed that Trump, thank god we got a leader like that

all those tariffs are gone already
