Time for Canada (formerly British North America territories) to assert reverse claims on Northern US states. Just like US slogans such as 54:40, Canada could do with a little crazy creativity. Takes crazy to rebutt crazy…

I’m down for “Maplefest Destiny”—The great white northern reclamation. Re-interpret the Oregon treaty and the Aroostook war to assert Canada’s rightful claim over former BNA and HBC fur trading regions.

Draw that line further south. Make hockey training and back bacon mandatory in the anexed states.

The worst news in the budget is that B.C.’s accumulated taxpayer-supported debt is on track to exceed 34 per cent of GDP by 2027-28.....in the late fall of 2022, the net debt stood at 15 per cent of GDP.

B.C. does not enjoy a “strong” economy, if by “strong” one means an economy that reliably produces steady gains in output and real income measured on a per person basis, where the largest export industries are actively encouraged to invest and grow here, and where entrepreneurial ambition and wealth creation are championed as principal drivers of prosperity.

Right now the best option (really the only option since BC residents in general aren't interested) for BC to think about creating a manufacturing sector turning out exportable products would require supporting industrial education. Employers need to be impressed with a local work force into perpetuity, not just a stable tax regime. Youths graduating should be able to safely operate a myriad of mechinal, electrical devices with proof of proficiency in finished individual projects. Measuring, forging, casting, drawing, forming, machining, milling, extrusion, cutting. Three years of four blocks of shops, English, Maths, an elective. Ready to be trained by the employer in most any fabricating or assembly.
Plus an ability to analyse, inquire, evaluate, and interpret sources gained from social studies. STEAMS.

The sad truth is that if the US decided to invade Canada, our armed forces could only put up a token (if not heroic) resistance. Their military massively outnumbers ours in personnel, equipment, and advanced technology.

Our only slim hope would be a long term grass roots insurgency like the Americans experienced in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

The question is, will Canadians be willing to sacrifice and put up a fight, or bow down to their new overlords?

I think we should be stocking up on thousands of explosive drones (airborne and seaborne), MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defence Systems), anti-tank missiles, and AK-47s (the weapon of choice for the underdog).

And free IED courses at your local community college.
Not a great time for the dumb libs to be taking our guns away!🤦🏻‍♂️ IMG_3039.jpeg

For some positive news Steven “guilty butt” Guilbeault expected to be replaced as environment minister. Give this at least to Carney. He knows an incompetent fool when he sees one
I would not give Carney too much yet. The news item I saw still had Guilbeault in cabinet.

We are simply too close to us populations for them to use or threaten to use nukes against Canadians. Dirty bombs are easy to make, and being a nuclear nation with an abundance of our own nuclear waste, as well as an abundance of raw uranium, I would not exclude that as a retalatory measure.

This is extreme and definitely off the rails.
The Uranium used in CANDU reactors is not nuclear weapons grade, nor do the reactors produce weapons grade materials. You need uranium that has been enriched.
For nuclear energy, a Thorium reactor would be more safer and it also won't produce weapon grade material.

I did say a dirty bomb.

A "dirty bomb," also known as a radiological dispersal device (RDD), is a conventional explosive device that disperses radioactive material, not a nuclear weapon, aiming to cause fear and panic rather than immediate, widespread casualties

Canada needs to increase steel production. That means increasing iron ore production (yes its lots of carbon). Canada needs more oil and gas exploration (queen charlottes, north of 60, )
Need more exploration for rare earth minerals.
Invest heavily in Thorium reactors, not that dumb shit Canadu reactor.
We also need to control the pollution as new industry is made.

High speed passenger trains between major cities will cut down on airplanes and burning fuel.

Montreal/Ottawa/Toronto/Mississauga/hamilton/london/Windsor an east west line.
Edmonton/Red Deer/Calgary
Calgary/Lethbridge/Medicine Hat/Swift Current/Moose Jaw/Regina/Yorkton/Saskatoon/North Battleford/Lloydminister/Edmonton
Yorkton/Brandon/Winnipeg/Thunder Bay
East coast cities Halifax to Montreal.

Also will need trains for transport of finished and raw materials.

The problem we have is that all transportation routes have usually been by half-hazard planning, not long term and expansional planning.
That is one thing we need to do is to connect our cities by transport systems.

Via Rail had passenger service east and west through Calgary until it was killed off in 92 or 93. I lived in Swift Current when the passenger train still went through it. One of my coworkers told me in earlier years there was train going east in the morning and west in the evening. He told me of taking the train to Regina to see Rough Rider games and then taking it back to Swift Current after the game. The home trips were often drunken affairs he said.

It's amazing how in less than 2 months, a batshit crazy, elderly reality show host has been able to destroy the reputation of a nation.

Canada is actively looking at potential alternatives to the U.S.-built F-35 stealth fighter and will hold conversations with rival aircraft makers, Defence Minister Bill Blair said late Friday, just hours after being reappointed to the post as part of Prime Minister Mark Carney's new cabinet.

The remarks came one day after Portugal signalled it was planning to ditch its acquisition of the high-tech warplane.

The re-examination in this country is taking place amid the bruising political fight with the Trump administration over tariffs and threats from the American president to annex Canada by economic force.

There has been a groundswell of support among Canadians to kill the $19-billion purchase and find aircraft other than those manufactured and maintained in the United States.

More oil exploration isn't going to help much if we don't have a way to get it off shore. We need pipelines like yesterday, a lot of them... unless everyone likes paying higher taxes. Free dental and shit is great but oil should pay for it, not us. Personally, I think we should be building our CANDU reactors all over the world as a belt and road sort of deal, and selling countries the electricity. We have the technology and the uranium. Canada has so many opportunities to profit from our resources, and even to be greenish by exporting nuclear power... we need to get off our asses. This stuff can't wait.

Relying on US military hardware is another set of concerns. We've got a lot of work to do, but I think the good thing here is we are all aware of it now.

All of the"solutions" being tossed out there don't really matter. All of it will take years.
Besides, by the time we even start thinking about having a meeting about the feasibility study into planning on doing a study into the possibility of sitting down to decide which font the invitations should be written in. . . it'll be WAY too late.
We don't learn.

Yeah, I know. Kinda cynical. But that's what I see.
