He was working with the liberals so he could get things like dental for my mother for example. Lots of people who couldn’t afford looking after their teeth can now do so.

Real life is working with people that you might not agree with or even like. That’s just life. The conservatives are the exact opposite of ndp so why would Singh sign off on something that might get them elected? Your hatred of him is clouding your judgement

Look at me getting sucked into arguing politics. Oops. Like I said I’m not going to change your mind. You’re definitely not going to change mine. So it’s a pointless endeavor.

Some of my favorite clients vote conservative. Vote for who fits what’s important to you.

I love it when the losers on the losing side say stuff like, "Trudeau is incompetent," (although they usually babble it in a more childish form).

Let's remember Trudeau brought the Liberal party back from the dead, and won three elections. He relegated no fewer than three CPC leaders to the dumpster.

He did this in spite of the vote on the left being split 4 ways.

So if Trudeau is incompetent or stupid or whatnot, what does this make the right wing perpetual losers of the Reform Party CPC?

Even stupider?

your opinion on the ndp is very biased and not quite based on fact. But I don’t really like to argue politics. I actually don’t care who people vote for.

My whole adult life, it has gone back and forth between liberals and conservatives (or some variation of that) and it probably will do that until I die. Caring about it besides voting and volunteering once in a while seems like a recipe for unhappiness lol.

Arguing about it or trying to change peoples minds who’s minds are already set seems like a perfectly good waste of a lovely rainy day. 💕
When NDP governments have been in power provincially they have typically mismanaged things in a spectacular fashion. Recall the high speed ferry debacle in BC some years back. When Ontario elected Bob Rae and the NDP some years back it took the province years to recover from that error in judgement. The NDP will never form a federal government so throw your vote away if you must.

I don’t think voting for a party that aligns with what’s important to you is throwing away your vote. It’s that attitude that keeps people from voting for who they want to.

In my opinion, the liberals provincially were a thousand times worse. Don’t even get me started on Christy Clark lol. And I would never vote conservative. I’m too empathic and way too socialist to vote conservative. I’ve been tempted locally to vote green or independent once or twice. The one time I was tempted to vote independent but didn’t, the independent I liked got in.

As Trump threatens Canada, ‘there’s something dangerous brewing’

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's increasingly bold threats against Canada's economy and sovereignty suggest "there's something dangerous brewing" and a serious response is needed, a U.S. analyst says.

David Frum, a staff writer at The Atlantic who has covered U.S. politics for decades, doesn't believe Trump actually wants to make Canada a U.S. state, but says the fact the incoming president keeps repeating that idea means he's eying some kind of aggressive action.

"If you're living with a mentally unstable partner and he says, 'I'm going to push you down the stairs,' he may not literally mean to push you down the stairs," Frum told Mercedes Stephenson in an interview that aired Sunday on The West Block.

I will never forgive Americans for electing that fat, deranged asshole again.

Yup. Once is a mistake. Twice is that they really like being led by an absolute scumbag.
So many people I know think my judgements of them (that the USA is a lost cause and will never get better) have the optimistic view of them, like "oh they're not really that bad". Well now it is these optimistic people who are hugging their knees going "How can this happen? We were so friendly to them all these years! He can't really mean it, can he?"

I am naturally angry that Canada (and others) are being so clearly backstabbed, but what I am not is surprised. Whether it is leaders like Trump or nations like the USA that have let any sort of conscience die in the gutter, sociopaths are always going to act like that.

Never trust them. Nothing they do is in good faith. They will only take and never give; never give them anything as a concession, because that just makes them think they can take more. Never believe it when they try to con you by saying they didn't really mean it, or they can change - because lying is as automatic as breathing for them, and they are exploiting your desire to forgive & forget. Never expect them to uphold any agreement with you; they will always betray you if given a chance to. Remember that they measure everything by how much they can get away with before someone forcefully stops them. Only consequences and punishment can stop them. What you need to do is ruthlessly and permanently slice them out of your life as much as you can, treat them like the enemies they are.

This is what Canada needs to do to Trump, and to all his followers (even the ones up here). If they piss and moan about how judgemental that is, fuck 'em. They have decided to become Canada's enemy, and much of the world's besides that, in what amounts to a series of unprovoked attacks on their allies, not their adversaries. All those years of economic partnership, intelligence and military cooperation, thrown away because they decided they want to steal everything from us. That kind of outright backstabbing needs to be paid back. That kind of nation should never be trusted again.

"Most Americans don't feel that way" some will say, but so what? Unless some drastic correction happens where US citizens or its military rises up against the tyrant and overthrows his regime, they are all a lost cause. Just a crooked ex-democracy, turned into a dangerous dictatorship that is the enemy of the world.

Fuck Canadian friendiness and trust happening towards the USA anymore. This is not "business as usual" negotiating, because it is clear that no amount of long-standing economic & military partnership matters to a nation that thinks it has the right to end the existence of ours. Pessimism regarding the Canada/USA relationship has been revealed as the only actual realism. All the people who said we should never put our economy or defenses at their mercy for the sake of cooperation on short-term profits have been proven right. FTA, NAFTA, CUSMA - NORAD, NATO, Five Eyes - all just snares to trap and weaken Canada.

Canadians should remove US influence upon us any way we can. If we are forced to have some sort of relationship with them, make it so coldly business-like and so arms-length that it is never mistaken for friendship. If if they overstep that and get into threats or hostile acts (as they are now), repay that hostility with ruthless pushback. Cost them money, cost them reputation, cost them blood if need be.

Boost our military (greatly) but stop fixating on the China & Russia boogeymen, who were always hyped up so other nations would regard America's adversaries as their own. We will only make our own choices from now on, and any rational assessment of the threat against Canada today concludes that the real Evil Empire is the one right next door, with the American Caligula is its leader.

Last but definitely not least: Anyone on this side of the border who chooses Trump or Trumpism over Canada is Canada's enemy. Once they side with someone who wants to end Canada's existence, they are not Canadians anymore. It's called treason, and the old school punishment for it might need to make a return.

Keep thinking about all the products British Columbia imports. All the apartment construction in Greater Vancouver filled with imported appliances. Refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, plumbing, furnaces, glass and glass frames, electrical fixtures. Imported equipment to build apartment towers. Cranes, dumps trucks, iron reinforcement bars, tools, clothing for employees. Once apartment built occupants bring in imported small appliances, furniture, clothing. Canadians fabricating products in Canada what Canadians need to off-set effect of tariffs.

How much of that is only from the US and not available from others like South Korea, China, Europe ? Granted we should have been making all those things, but someone (the right) spent the last 40 years convincing Canadians to stop producing anything for itself and just extract raw materials for the USA and others to use. We became a servitor economy instead of a self-sufficient one. Short term profits (for their executives and their often American-owned companies) over long term national survival. Now under threats like Trump's we really must not only diversify who we sell t but who we buy from. Canada first, and then anybody except the US after that, and finally only the US if there is no other choice (until we create another choice).

Same story for the real estate itself - we got convinced to cut the "red tape" like proper planning and zoning, foreign ownership restrictions, and fraud & money laundering investigations. Well 30-40 years of that and no matter how much housing we "build build build", almost nobody can afford housing. Why? Because it is not for us, it is all for that vast hoard of global black & grey market capital, speculative investors, tax evader, & money launderers using our land and our housing market to wash their billions of dollars, and nobody local with an honest income can keep up with that. Otherwise it would not be possible to price residents out of their own communities. We are becoming homeless in our own homeland despite there being more construction and more dwellings than ever before. (It is not just in Metro Vancouver, or BC., or Canada though - it is global.)

We cannot win a game that is rigged against us from the start.

Pp is also the scion of Stockwell Days coalition. So if you want the Church intruding in politics, vote Con.

Americanized assholes worshipping in Americanized churches; not real christianity, just some Church Of Money heresy. They'll clamp a virtue belt on your genitals, but as far as lying, thieving, and murdering, that is all "blessed" to them.

As a result of Trump cleverly assessing Canada’s over-reliance on the US and their food, products, military, etc. for our lifestyle and very survival, his tariff threats have created a much overdue wake-up call for Canadian politicians.

The spill-over effect of all this when the dust settles is that Canada will go through a time of pain and decline (rightfully so by allowing the steady degradation of our own self-reliance). But then, we will emerge stronger and better as a result.

If that is "clever" not the random lashing out of a corrupt asshole with dementia, great disguise job. Phantom threats everywhere! Attack your allies instead of your enemies !

Well, I only agree that it has been a wake-up call for Canadians, not that the American Caligula is right, but that the USA cannot be considered trustworthy or even sane anymore. Canada needs to go through some re-armanent and re-oerienting like it is wartime, and go back to maximizing our independence and self-sufficiency. Buit in the meantime, we need to rally all the betrayed nations together and forcefully stop that psychotic dictator in the White House from harming any country except his own.

Real life is working with people that you might not agree with or even like. That’s just life. The conservatives are the exact opposite of ndp so why would Singh sign off on something that might get them elected? Your hatred of him is clouding your judgement

Singh would do so, and has tried to do so, because he's not the grand icon of socialism some make it out to be.
The NDP has often helped the Conservatives tactically, because strategically they want to bring about polarization by eliminating the center party in Canadian politics. Like the UK with Cons vs. Labour or like the US with GOP vs. Dems, what is basically a 2 party system - and the NDP believes once it is like that, it guarantees they will be the ones carrying the banner of "progressive" ideology alone. (No more Libs, and definitely no Greens, which the NDP passionately hate.)
Is that a wise strategy? Nope, its bone-headed, but believe me the NDP clings to the idea that "there is only left versus right in politics" every bit as much as Conservatives do.

Look at BC politics where polarization has been like a plague, with just wrenching swings back and forth, and an overabundance of petty drama. When the Liberals rose up suddenly under Wilson, the Socreds soon fell apart, but the Socred remnents famously staged a hostile takeover of the Liberals and turned them from centrist to right wing. Then last election or two completed the extermination of the centrist tendency in BC by getting overtaken by their own cast-offs leading the BC Conservatives. (Now a clearly US style MAGA party, even more than VanDerZalm's loony turn with the Socreds that discredited and destroyed them.)

And yes, First Past The Post voting carries a lot of blame for this. Instead of allowing free & fair choices and working together to govern with actual majority consent, it negates choice, leverages small vote swings into huge seat swings, and gives absolute power to those with still just minority support. All the tactics the parties engage in, all the petty games, the trickery, and trollish goof behavior comes down to how they perceive the path to victory in those conditions. The fact that most people might not support or consent to what they are planning does not matter to them. They do not need majority consent like a real democracy; they just need that moment when they can jump onto the seat of power and cling to it for dear life they get knocked off it.

So, Jagmeet, who goes off excitedly like Beeker from the muppets, is willing to do something that would almost certainly lead to the exact opposite policies that any NDP member would want. Why? Because he is vain and quite afraid that he is irrelevant, and Poillivre has demonstrated that needling Jagmeet's ego actually works. He's also thinking that if he does not strike down the Liberals when they're at rock bottom, the NDP will never become the only "progressive" (ugh, I hate that word) option available. And he's assuming it will only be a 1 term CPC nightmare in charge, not that the NDP will just get defeated by the Cons again and again.

Anyways, if you want an NDP opinion that is much more mission-oriented and not wallowing in the petty gamesmanship, check out Charlie Angus and what he has had to say lately - about Jagmeet's leadership, about Trump and Trump supporters, etc.
The guy is retiring, but a lot of people wish he was going to take them over instead. The NDP has not done well under Jagmeet and Trudeau's unpopularity has not turned into him picking up any gains; the grassroots of them have the same concern you do - that doing something to usher in Polly and his planned Maple MAGA regime is a betrayal of their principles just to try and gain position.

If the Libs recover their support to be either government again or the dominant opposition, Jagmeet's goose is cooked. Bank on that.

What was done to BC Ferries after Campbell came in was worse than the fast ferries. Their semi-privatization and reliance on "on call contracts" is what led to the fleet decaying and recruitment shortages. They replicated the fast ferries fiasco in a way too: under orders from Campbell and Clark, their American CEO insisted on building all BC Ferries vessels outside Canada, mainly out of political spite from Transport Minister Todd Stone. Those Coastal Class ferries were built in Germany but far from being great, they have all had major engine problems requiring almost total rebuilds, just a handful of years into their service life (which should be 40 years or so normally), and that meant keeping a bunch of very old vessels going which were supposed to be retired ages ago. Ultimately that has cost BC more than the entire fast ferries project ever did. Years spent trying to un-fuck what amounted to political punishment in the form of deliberate neglect.

Good thing people don’t talk about politics in their initial text or email or maybe I wouldn’t fuck cons either hahaha. Joking. I honestly don’t care. Smell nice and be nice and that’s it.
You do have a strapon don't you? You could always fuck them into submission....

Christy Clark's government was at the end of 4 elections with the opposition party promising to cut the taxes. When Christy won, the government had over the last 15 years lost revenue because of the promise of each succeeding government to cut taxes.
Cutting taxes cause problems with schooling, health care, and maintenance of provincial structures like roads and buildings. Its kinda like a scrunchy, where when you squish it up, it no longers lathers as much.

The NDP were great at helping the little guy, by increasing min wage, benefits and strengthening unions. They were not great with keeping a healthy economy going or the creation of wealth.

So to get an economy going, the government goes to the rich (Big Corporations). The rich want their pound of flesh or tax breaks or they won't do it. Now add in global economies. Any money coming from the USA, is gonna be used to shut down Canadian heavy manufacturing. So instead of manufacturing here in Canada, raw resources go south.... At Canadian wages you can not compete with Asian cheap labour.

The younger generation look around and they see no hope in sight for them for houses, careers, all because the last 50 years the Governments (provincial and federal) haven't been investing in them.

The world runs on money. But the greed for money is has made our economy spiral out of control, making housing and food so expensive today.

Its not the rich get richer and the poor poorer. It the extinguishing of the bottom 2/3 of the middle class into poverty. If you think that we have a classless society today, we are headed for kingdoms and serfdoms tomorrow. The rich will always move on, while the poor have to stay and clean up the mess.

With a few different sizes and textures of penis to pick from too!!

it’s such a complicated situation with no easy solution we’re in.

Eat the rich?

When I say I don’t care who somebody votes for, I’m talking about fiscal conservative and NOT crazy religious hypocrites paying for sex while voting against gay marriage kind of conservative. I would not be comfortable with a maga supporter in my bed. I have trans friends and strongly support their right to exist in peace.

I can be quite passionate about my beliefs. I also can be professional and not bring politics into my work space. I do love some of the fun conversations I get into with likeminded individuals tho

I might be tempted to vote Carney tho.
then you need to actually listen to him

he's Turd 2.0, he's already said so, if you actually listen to the doublespeak that's already dribbled out of his elite cake hole in the last week

week ago, carbon tax great, best way, effective, despite facts, reality, now, bad, but tax in another way, then keep giving welfare to well off to green up the economy, even when it didn't work last time
the Turd already put in welfare for Green to the tune of around 200B

go look at Carney's actions, words over the last yrs about it, he was all over it, 100%+

he's all about knowing better than you, you're just too stupid to know what's best for yourself

he's still saying it now about the carbon tax, Canadians are just too stupid to know how good it is/was

Pierre is the problem, Canadians believed his lies that you're worse off after being taxed to poverty

it's you, not him, sound familiar? it's the Turd's main belief system

says he's not a politician, yet is acting exactly like one now, isn't an insider, yet has been involved with the Liberals going back to his BoC days, go back, read the news, it's there

they were trying to get him to beat the Turd back then replace him since the ship started sinking, why do you think Munster Freeland quit

he's more of the same

why do you think all the Turdeau Liberal cult members are lining up behind him?

they don't want to change, not really

you can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig
