I don't know if its racism or your ignorance but the ship is owned by a Singaporean company and is flagged as a Singaporean vessel. There were deficiencies found during prior maintenance inspections in that ship. Yes, the crew was Indian but the ship was under the command of pilots from Port of Baltimore as is the norm when you are navigating into or out of a port. The crew issued mayday calls when they lost power and propulsion and knew they were drifting towards the bridge. What else could have they done in that scenario? Obviously the NTSB will investigate and we will know more in future. Even Biden in his speech mentioned that the crew helped save lives. The mayday call helped Maryland state patrol close the bridge and there was no traffic on it as a result. The only cars left were the construction crew which is unfortunate that they couldn't evacuate out in time but this accident could have gotten worse if the traffic hadn't been stopped.
