My final four this year is Ducks/Preds and Washington/Rangers, and then the Caps would face and beat the Ducks in 6.

I never thought Washington would be the team that would make me the most worried to not make it.

I'm not going to predict rounds because frankly divisional finals bore me but I'm predicting Nashville - Pittsburgh final with Nashville in 6.

They're heating up at the right time and given that Chicago has been horrible, they'll face either Minnesota (not good) or the Blues (hahah Jake Allen) in the second round they have the potential to go far. Great forward depth and excellent defense. Rinne is meh but he doesn't have to be anything other than average.
This is a pretty good analysis. One caveat though. The reason I have Nashville going so far is because Rinne has been on fire since March (around a .933 save percentage). So, while he was pretty meh this year, which has a lot to do with PK going down, for a lengthy part of the season, he has caught fire at the right time.

As for Jake Allen, we laugh now, but, he's becoming less consistently inconsistent. When he hits his prime in 2 or 3 years, he might become a top 5 goalie in the league.

ROFL.

Catherine James is a remarkable woman but she's probably the last person I'd depend on for hockey picks!

If I started to talk about Ducks, Penguins and Sharks she'd probably ask which zoo I'm planning to visit.

(True story, which CJ has permitted me to share, is that Peyton and I were debating Sidney Crosby over dinner last week and Catherine joined the conversation midway. "Who are we taking about ?" asked CJ. "Sidney Crosby" said Peyton and we both saw her shake her head and move on to the adjoining conversation. At few moments later, Catherine leaned over to me an whispered "as in Sidney Crosby, Stiils and Nash?" Yup. That really happened. So, I'd trust her with almost anything but hockey picks isn't one of them).

Sorry to complicate your thread and, if anyone is going down for those picks , the shame is all mine.
Where is Stils playing these days?

"Capitals 'too horny' in defensive zone"

"...“Initially, when they’re chipping pucks in, we have to do a better job of being patient. There are times when they are beating us to the puck, so we just have to let the one-on-ones happen. We’re kinda getting a little too, uh, horny, getting in there and exposing it,” Shattenkirk said to reporters at the Air Canada Centre on Wednesday."

Would never have thought Chicago would be swept in the 1st round. Was thinking Nashville would have won in 6. Now the Flames getting swept is no surprise. Both their goalies are sieves.
Hoping the Habs can comeback and win in 7. Max Pacioretty needs to score for that to happen.

Before the playoffs my Stanley Cup prediction was Pittsburgh to repeat. Despite all the injuries the Penguins they just have so much depth that can plug in any role. Doesn't hurt either they have Sid and Gino. Fleury may not be the #1 but compared to some other teams goalies he's been there before and playoffs are a whole different animal. Also Phil Kessel is playing good and is pretty hilarious in interviews.

The NHL is the most ass backward league. Every other sport likes to showcase their franchise/marquee players. Not the NHL. Only this league do they go out of their way to let their multi-million dollar players get murdered by their 10 cent pylons that nobody would give a damn if they disappeared from the NHL mid-game.

Imagine hearing ESPN say something like: “If I were *Insert team with great defense here*, I’d have a d-lineman hit *insert franchise and NFL marquee QB here* late every play and take my chances that I won’t get a roughing the passer on every play.

That would sound ridiclous and the analyst would probably get fired for even suggesting the thing.

In the NHL, that’s called gamesmenship.

Who wants to see McDavid's speed when we can have him shadowed by Pavelski, Ward and whomever else? That would be too much fun! Kadri's dirty hit on Ovie? It may not be suspendable, but, no player would dream to do the equivalence to a star similar to Ovie in another pro league.

Impressive first round Peyton!

7 out of 8 and you only missed the # of games by 4 in total.

Pretty lady knows her stuff. All hail the Queen.
Too bad hockey clairvoyance isn't a marketable skill

I'll update my predictions a bit later since I whoopsied and forgot the 2 EC wild cards were both metro teams.

There's another thread in which a pooner wrote a funny limerick (https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?236450-The-Epic-Limerick-of-Sexpeare). It kind of inspired this:

Well, the first round of hockey is finished
me winning the pool was completely diminished
you see I came in last
but still i'm having a blast

the hawks bow out in four
minnesota didn't fare much more
the ducks burned the flames
and McDavid couldn't be tamed

the habs lost again
but then there are still the Sens
OV is still alive
but Pittsburgh will beat him in five?

So who will win the cup?
lets ask the lady with the pup
so Peyton said Predators over Penguins in six
let's see how good she is with her picks. ;)

I think the Oilers are the team to beat in the whole league, Size and that speed. The kid McDavid is like a jet out there, seems to be able to do things just as fast as Bure and of course can pass a lot better.

Canadian teams were up a combined 4-0 this round. All of a sudden it's 4-all & momentum has swung the other way.

When the Oilers were up 2-0 there was an article claiming they were the favs. Now i suppose it's the Pens, even with Crosby's future in question & the Capitals outshooting them badly. Who'd have guessed Fleury would save them.
