I was @ the San Diego Chargers vs Seattle Seahawks game @ Qwest Field on Christmas Eve, and it was one hell of a 2nd half, Philip Rivers had shitty numbers but he really drove his team down the field to win the game with that TD pass to Vincent Jackson. The Seattle Seahawks should of won that game if it wasn't for that mental lapse on that game winning TD pass by Rivers. But they clinched the NFC West and this will be the playoff matchups if the playoffs were to start tommarow.

AFC - 1st San Diego Chargers bye 2nd Baltimore Ravens bye

Wild Card Playoffs:6th New York Jets@ 3rd Indianapolis Colts
5th Denver Broncos @4th New England Patriots

NFC - 1st Chicago Bears(clinched homefield) 2nd New Orleans Saints bye

Wild Card Playoffs:6th New York Giants @ 3rd Philadelphia Eagles
5th Dallas Cowboys @ 4th Seattle Seahawks

With one week to go alot is left to be decided, but the San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens look to be the best teams in the NFL right now and there both in the AFC.

The Bears are chopped-liver? And the Saints too?

I think the Colts will once again disappoint their belleagured fans by choking in the post season. The AFC teams to watch are the Chargers and Ravens. I'll go as far to say the Ravens will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. As for the NFC, while everyone would love the Saints to make a Cinderella Super Bowl, I think the Dah Bears will put a stop to that. So following sentimentality, I would like to see Steve McNair get a SB win before winding up his career.

Here's an example of why the current alignment of the league and the process to determine playoff contenders is still way out to lunch:
Green Bay can clinch playoff berth with:

1) GB win + NYG win + GB clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over NYG**, OR
2) GB win + NYG loss or tie + STL loss or tie, OR
3) GB win + NYG loss or tie + CAR win, OR
4) GB win + NYG loss or tie + ATL win, OR
5) GB tie + NYG loss + STL loss + ATL loss or tie + CAR loss or tie

**Packers clinch strength of victory tiebreaker over NY Giants if all of the following occur:
ARI win, DET win, MIA win, MIN win, SF win, CAR loss, HOU loss, TB loss.

If Green Bay and NY Giants end up tied in strength of victory, then tie will be decided by best strength of schedule.
As of today, these teams are out:
Arizona, Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Miami, Minnesota, Oakland, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Washington
So, yay! No Buffalo or Pittsburgh. Should be a good playoffs.

If the New York Giants beat the Washington Redskins later tonight and get into the NFC Playoffs they still could be very dangerous, they have all the weapons in place, and if they play well together it wouldn't surprise me if they at least get to the NFC Championship game on January 21st. Eli Manning is a very streaky QB and if he gets hot, watch out!

To the astonishment of many, myself included, Jeff Garcia taking over as QB after Donovan McNabb's injury has turned the Philadelphia Eagles into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them make it as the NFC representative. I agree with scott231's assessment that the AFC Super Bowl team is likely to be either Baltimore or San Diego. As a long time Chargers fan going back to the days of Lance Alworth (the most graceful wide receiver ever to set foot on NFL turf) and John Hadl, I'd love to see them go all the way.

If my Cowboys can get the defense to start playing like they did earlier in the year, they could go to the bowl to get their asses wooped by any of the AFC teams. If not, I think the Saint are the best of a unimpressive lot of NFC teams. So I say Brees gets kicked by his old team in the Super Bowl.
