That diagnosis is so important. I know some parents who are raising kids with obvious mental health issues who don't help their situation because they don't want their child labeled. That label isn't something that will harm your child, and without it, they can't get any help.

Would imagine your son would qualify for the Disability Tax Credit. 2 of my 3 boys have autism, and they both qualify for the credit. Would all depend on the medical professional filling out the paperwork. It does help out financially, but it doesn't do much to help with the emotional support...

I think it was the right thing to do. If you're concerned for someone's safety, let them know. Can't help it if your message gets misinterpreted, it's still the right action to take. Even if she doesn't know it, it might still save her from some less than friendly people.

That could work with some forethought. Just get a gift that's around the appropriate value and hold on to it somewhere safe. If / when you need it, it's available at a moment's notice. But honestly, if you're not single, sticking to cash is probably the best policy.
