So what is everyones favourite hot sauce?

i like the really hot hot hot sauce. I can drink tobasco sauce like orange juice.
the best i have found so far is Matouk's ... that stuff is nuclear reactive.

cant find it in Vancouver anywhere now. anyone seen it or know of a killer hot sauce brand?

Dave's Insanity Sauce is pretty good. I really like the Tabasco Chipotle, it's hot but packs alot of flavor which I find more important than heat.

Art Knapp's on King George Hwy in Surrey(almost White Rock) has a 'Wall of Flame'.

South China Seas on Granville Island has a 'hall of flame', or if you near a Sammy J Peppers restaurant, they have a small selection displayed at the front.

you can get matouk's at sunshine market down by the vpd hastings branch or any other carribean food market.

i love all hot sauce for the most part and i know this one is a plain selection but i'm really liking the chipotle tabasco right now.

its hardly hot at all but its damn tasty.

sunrise market? if so. not there anymore. that is where i got it last time. was just there tonite. other place i saw Matouks was Urban Fare. tho also no longer. and too expensive there.. 3x as much as Sunrise. but would have paid Urban fare price if they still had it

Sriracha..that does have nice heat to it...saw it in Sunrise and also at Costco...almost bot it at sunrise...but i dont like the other ingredients in it. the 2nd listed is sugar. and as for flavor. that is why i like the matouks..it has flavour in addition to the teeth melting heat

thanks for tips on Granville Island. will have to check it for sure. is south china right in the Granville island market? there is also a Sammy J at Granville island. thanks for reminding me. forgot about that place. they do have some wicked hot sauces there. :)

well if matouks is not at sunrise anymore then check any small carribean or foreign foods market. its made in trinadad & tabago so they should have it. i love matouks, its got great flavour. a good alternative cause its pretty much the same thing is a sauce made by "grace" jamaican brand. its called "pick a peppa sauce" goes great with jamaican patties.

cool site with the "16,000,000 scoville units" cant even imagine .. they say the 1million scovilles are 700x what tabasco is... so, 16million..damn!!

Matouk's is OK, but true hot sauce aficionados would lather it on food like ketchup, because it's pretty mild.compared to real hot sauces.

One of my favourites is Mad Dog at 357,000 Scoville units, It's plenty vicious, and should only be added drop by drop to gravy and other cooked sauces.:

"357 MAD DOG Hot SauceTM **

Finally a super hot sauce that tastes like real Chile peppers

This killer sauce is packing 357,000 scoville units of heat. One hit will blow you away! We blend ultra pure 2,000,000 scoville heat units of Chile extract, fresh Habanero peppers, 160,000 scoville super Cayenne peppers, garlic and onion to make a sauce that can truly take your breath away.

About five-seconds after you taste the recommended dose of one drop prepare your mouth and mind for five to 20 minutes of agony that all true chili-heads fully understand and appreciate. Because it's so powerful, the average chili freak can get 200,000 mind-blowing, fiery doses in each 5-oz. bottle"

16,000,000 Scoville units is pure capsaicin. Even the freakiest hot sauce lover wouldn't be able to handle it.

well..went on the prowl for Matouks. never did find it. nothing in Donalds or Dollar grocery.
wasnt sure if you said save on or superstore...ended up in saveon. nothing there. almost went to superstore..shud have i guess :)
a positive atleast is i found another source of my favorite soup. SARDOS brand. Dollar Grocer has it

the other day in Sunrise mkt i ended u getting Bulliards Louisiana Supreme hot sauce. blah. i could drink the whole bottle and not get a tingle.

but success today. my final stop in my quest was to Sammy J on Granville island. They had quite a few to choose from. I was recommended a couple. but decided to ask if they had any open bottles i could sample. glad i did. the first one recommended was blah.
the 2nd one. BINGO !! :) just a few drops from the sample stick. for the next 30min my mouth was burning. woohoo :)

walked out with a bottle of Dave's Ghost Pepper Gourmet hot sauce "so hot its spooky"

thanks for the help everyone.

here is a review of the Ghost pepper sauce i found..

http://rojosgourmet.blogspot.com/2009/03/review-daves-ghost-pepper-hot-sauce.html

"Ingredients: Ghost pepper/Naga Jolokia peppers, hot pepper extract, salt, vegetable oil, roasted garlic pulp, acetic acid.

Extract??? Dave, are you trying to say that 1 million Scoville units of tongue blistering heat is not enough? This is a truly sadistic endevour!

Appearance: This is a very smooth reddish sauce with a slight pink hue. Upon closer inspection you can see tiny red globules of chile extract forming in the neck of the bottle, it’s hard to keep that extract in suspension so you had better shake this well before you use it!

Aroma: Wow. This is a really great smelling sauce. When I first uncap the bottle and take a slow smooth smell It makes my mouth water. The Jolokia peppers have super sweet melon like aroma. It is slightly smoky and has a little twang on the nostrils, something you would expect from vinegar. Interestingly, the is no vinegar in this sauce.

Taste: The very first flavor to hit me is uhhmm PAIN, no wait it’s sweet and smoky and you can actually taste the garlic in the back for a second, then the PAIN! Wow, this is some hot stuff! Interestingly enough you go from a few seconds of pain to completely numb. My gums are still tingling, but I guess the endorphins have kicked in and blocked the pain cuz’ it’s gone. I think this is actually one of the best tasting super hots I have tasted. The bitter extract taste is not present in this sauce as in other super hots. I think I can find a few uses for this super hot sauce."

Satan's Blood at 800 000 SU is the hottest I have in my fridge. Only a drop or two will be enough to make most mortals sweat.

I find the sriracha to garlicky. My mainstay is always Chipotle Tobasco but have been playing with the Peri Peri sauces that I brought back from South Africa this spring.

My secretary brought me some scotch bonnet sauces from the Carribean. I find them too hot. There is a Puerto Rican Sauce with honey that I really enjoy but I haven't had any for a couple years. I usually get it on Carribean cruises.
