I have a question about risks.

I realize that most SP's are very carefull and get tested for STD's regularly.

However, I was wondering if a member of PERB, either a pooner or SP found out they indeed contracted a STD, is there a procedure in place that would warn others of the danger, so they can go get tested?

You'd think there is a potential for an STD outbreak in this hobby with all the fun we have.

From what I understand, you're more likely to get a STD from a freind you picked up in a bar, than from a SP that's practicing safely, but there's still a small risk.

Anyone know anyone that claims they where infected in the Edmonton area?

I don't agree with wet_suit_one, I think some of the best info and opinions are found on the review boards, some people are experts on the subject, hell we even have the health section!

If you want to be scared straight talk to the STI health nurses. But in all seriousness, the ladies there tell me my precautions are good and it's ok to enjoy this hobby responsibly.

There are no known health issues associated with frequent masturbation (other than tenderness if you are in marathon mode or you fall off the bed and land on it).

Some guys feel "ashamed" or "guilty" after doing it. This is fairly common. Mostly to do with someone in their life saying jerking off is bad or some junk like that. Get over it. Lol. It's all good. Statistics say that your buddies are doing it too, and probably just as much or more than you.

I don't masturbate a whole lot, I prefer the real thing.

My mother was very open minded and encouraged masturbation saying it was natural and healthy. Well my younger brother started before me and had a method of doing it fully clothed while rubbing himself while on his stomach with both hands. Sorry for the visual but I had seen it one too many times and even in front of company! Mom refused to say anything was wrong with it, not that there is but it made me very uncomfortable. It never had much appeal to me.

Then in my teens a friend caught one of our buddies doing it. Well the guy who was caught was mortified and wanted to make sure the guy never told. He actually tried to kill the guy! Both of their lives were forever changed, one now has brain damage and the other went to jail and has struggled to get his life back on track ever since.

So I was taught it isn't a bad thing but from my experience nothing good has ever come from it.

That really wasn't what I meant to say. What I meant to say (more politely in this case) is don't listen to al the bafflegab from every Tom, Dick and Henrietta on here, go to a legit, professional source and get sound advice.

Folks here often do say that which is correct, but also say that which is not correct (out of ignorance or spite). Don't gamble with this important knowledge and get it from a better more reliable source. Cripes, see your doctor.

Now, I'll go back to beating my stupid block head against a wall in hopes of knocking some sense into it...

Thanks for all those that have posted answers to my question.

I'm not very concerned really. I've had 7 safe GFE's, and only 1 SP with some LFK. I asked if she ever gets tested, and she told me she knows a nurse that's a close freind, and gets tested every 2 weeks. So it's unlikely anything happened to me. It's just that after the LFK, I got to wondering how safe it was.

To be more on the safe side, I think I'll stay with the safe GFE's in the future. I know it's still a good idea to get tested now and then anyway. But safe GFE's are much less likely to get a STD, then those that go the extra mile IMHO.

So lets everyone have some safe fun out there.

I have seen lots of SP's in 20 yrs.......safe sex.
The only time was when I met a girl in the bar and
