No surprise to the ladies here, a recent study finds men gossip twice as much as women.

Look who’s talking! Guys who gossip outnumber gossip girls two to one, according to new research, and 80 percent of our conversations are spent on discussing other people and their habits. The study of 300 people, by Dr. Nicholas Emler as reported in the London Daily Mail, found that while we love exchanging juicy tidbits of personal info, only about 5 percent of gossip is malicious.

And guess what? Gossip may actually be vital to our survival, according to the Daily Mail, which notes that the exchange of gossip may have helped cavemen to elect leaders and to catch thieves.

I don't think so. No way. Guys don't 'gossip'...what, do you think that we Men gossip about each other's love life? Or whether or not we had work done? Gimme a break! Some 'Gossip' column written by a gossip columnist....right. Don't believe everything you read, especially if it's in the 'lifestyles" section of a newspaper. Sheesh.

Over the journey of life I have had occasion to work in heavy industry, and in mechanics garages. I have also had an office space in a building with the next adjacent room being a nail salon, and the walls were paper thin.

Guess which one melts the walls with chatter - idle, harmless; and insipid, destructive backstabbing?

OBVIOUSLY, it was the heavy industry & mechanics garages that had the idle, harmless, insipid & destructive backstabbing gossip, since I highly doubt you speak nor understood the korean, japanese, vietnamese, cantonese, chinese and the multitude of other languages, with their dialects, spoken at the nail salon.

Normally if the Daily Mail said the sun was going to rise I would pop my head out of the window to check but this time it seems the NY Daily News are the chinese whisperers.

Whilst Nicholas Emler is a respected academic from the University of Surrey whose work includes the proposition that 80% of communication is gossip, the claim that men gossip more than women comes from an opinion poll commissioned by a cake company.......but he does make exceedingly good cakes...as the adverts say...
