Happy 142nd birthday Canada.

I hope that I don't take our freedoms for granted as much as I feel that I have in the past. I don't say it enough, but this is the greatest country.

Happy 142nd to everyone here. I hope everyone will consider taking a few minutes to thank our country for the rights it grants and the opportunities it offers, compared to most other places. I know I will.

I guess this means the banks, grocers and most significantly,
liquor stores, are closed today. Shouldn't there have been
a two day warning on this thing.

"....July 1, 1867. However, though Canada is regarded as having become a dominion in its own right on that date,[4] the British Parliament at first kept limited rights of political control over the new country, which were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were ended in 1982, when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution."

"...The holiday was initially not dominant in the national calendar; up to the early 20th century, Canadians thought themselves to be primarily British, being thus less interested in celebrating distinctly Canadian forms of patriotism. No official celebrations were therefore held until 1917 – the golden anniversary of Confederation – and then none again for a further decade.[6]

"This trend declined in the post-World War II era..."

Two Questions?

1. What's everybody gonna do today?

2. What are your best or fondest memories of Canada Day from the past?

Glen or Glenda?
P.S. For fear of being called on a technicality this isn't question number three - it's my regular signature.

Fellate me or give me cunnillingus? Not even my hairdresser knows for sure whether or not I'm a gent or a lady!

The Violent Years

Top marks to Thatotherguy who identified The Ed Wood Movie Glen or Glenda! Did anyone see the movie dedicated to Ed Wood starring Johnny Depp and the other guy whose name is hard to remember and was in The Television Series Mission Impossible - he won the oscar for the movie in question didn't he?

The Moorhead Lady in The Violent Years, could she be Anges Moorhead's Sister who used to play The Mother/Grandmother in The Original Bewitched Television Series?

Glen or Glenda?

1. I started the day working in the yard. Tapped a keg of Heineken at noon and will probably finish it by the time the day is over.:D

2. Nephew came home from Afganistan in one piece with only a couple metal bits he didn't go over with.

Yup, it was a damn good movie IMO. Martin Landau was great as Bela Lugosi. Hell, the entire cast was good (Johnny Depp, Vincent D'Onofrio, even Sarah Jessica Parker, who I don't usually like). I haven't seen any actual Ed Wood movies, all that I know about him and his movies comes from that movie, and a documentary about him that I saw.
