I've never actually seen the show, but from the clips I've seen of it, I really feel sorry for Jon. It looks like he's ridiculously henpecked, and hates doing the show. Feel sorry for the kids as they grow up and become more mature, having their whole life in a reality T.V. fishbowl. Most folks on these shows are nominally adults (at least of the age of majority) and can make a conscious decision to be on T.V.

Curious as to how much they actually make for the show, is it big bucks or just enough to cover their bills?

Yeh, Kate does seem like a bit of a bossy boots. That 50K a show if accurate is a pretty significant carrot. If they were trying to live on one, even good, salary it would have to be a huge struggle with eight kids to feed and cloth.

He had no right to cheat, even if she was getting to be a bit much-he has always been dull, uninvolved, and without a strong opinion on anything. What kind of man is that? Hello he is on television and can have or do anything a man could wish for as far as raising his kids and showing them life as well as putting out the right messages and inspiring other young parents and look at him he may as well have slept through the last year he is so many steps behind. His wife could have done it on her own.

Why the hell did she marry him then?? I'm so tired of hearing all the excuses women make for their mistakes. The scary part is that at no time in the history of the world have women had it as good as they do now, and yet they haven't evolved much in other ways as they continue to make the same mistakes over and over. I doubt it's a case of that. She married him fully knowing how henpecked he was and she likes it. Sure it annoys her but I doubt she would like it if he did take a major role. Some women are like that.

While I don't condone his cheating (My sister's husband cheated on her and broke her heart) I can empathise with him.
I was also married to a self-admitted control freak. In the early part of our marriage it wasn't bad. I liked how she took care of everything at home so I could build my business but it escalated. Soon she was treating me like another one of the kids, 2nd guessing me, criticizing, scolding, etc. Pretty soon our marriage went from being a partnership to a dictatorship. That among other things caused me to end it.

This show happens to be one of my guilty pleasures. I follow it pretty closely and have a good idea of what's going on. One thing I can guarantee is that the show will go on. Kate used to be a nurse and Jon was in the IT field. As far as I can tell neither of them have any other source of income other than the show. No show, no money. Simple as that.

All you need to watch is one episode to figure out that Kate is a bitch and treats Jon like a dog. I don't know how he put's up with her shit all the time. If you do enough googling you'll find that her bitch attitude goes way back. Her dad was a Baptist minister at a local church, and he, along with all the churches members, came together and helped out in a big way when they found out about the six babies. Though used, they were offered strollers, cribs, clothes, toys etc...to which Kate turned her nose up at. She wanted only new stuff.

Kate's sister (Jodi) used to be a regular on the show, but when she inquired about seeing some money from her appearances, Kate simply said "Only we get paid!" Poor Jon. Poor, poor Jon. Maybe that broad sun tanning on the lawn of his 1.1 million dollar house was actually his SP

Last I heard was that TLC was working on trying to write all the latest gossip into the show, including Kate's supposed indiscretions with the family's body guard.
