what's the cross street? I've never noticed it

I have to vote for the Cannery....amazing seafood, amazing wine list, amazing staff and you really can"t beat that view!!! Too bad it's going to be moving locations though....
I guess she means the Coal Harbour side of Denman street not English Bay. Right on the seawall, Jodie?

Hmm. Thanks for that. I'll have to check out the new Crime Lab soon.

Indeed. It's at the very north end of Denman, right on the seawall.

(Sorry, when I made that post I forgot that the seawall runs to both ends of Denman Street! )

I've been several times since they re-opened in September, and it's been consistently very good in all respects. Compared with the other two places nearby (Carderos and Lift), I think Crime Lab offers much better value for the money.

There was that talk about moving the Cannery because the Port of Vancouver wanted more money or needed the space. I thought the Cannery was gonna stay there.

MMmmmmm..... Salmon Wellington.....:p
I don't want them to move... usually the food doesn't seem to be as good as before.....:(

For my list of places to eat:
Anducci's for the quantity (and some quality) of pasta
The Cannery for seafood
La Gavroche for french cruisine
The Vista (closed) for their Porterhouse steak
Shabusen for sushi/korean bbq all-you-can-eat
Cloud9 for the view and to impress the ladies (the long elevator up gives ample time for uhhh.... intimate activities) lol.

Looks like there are lots of Blue water Cafe fans. How about Chambar, Belgian restaurant!:D

I have to agree that Chambar is great - the mussels and foie gras! My other favourites include:

* Cafe Pacifica (at the Pan Pacific) for Sunday Brunch,
* Ciopinno's (great Italian place in Yaletown)
* Marcello's for their pizza (Commercial Drive - with a close second to Lombardos)

There are plenty of great restaurants and each have their own unique reasons.

* Cheap Chinese - Congee Noodle House
* Pho - Pho Lan in Richmond and Kim Phung in Vancouver

I agree! They have a lobster bisque that is completely amazing. :D

Tried Vij's recently. They don't take reservations and had a two hour wait. Walked out of there - they expect you to sit around for two hours and drink their wine for two hours before eating?

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Joe Fortes and only one vote for Gotham. If you're a Sushi fan, there's a little out of the way Japanese restaurant in Pitt Meadows on 122nd Street that makes the best Sushi and other Japanese food that you will ever have.

How about Il Giardino! The food there is fantastic, but you need to dress nice if you want to have warm reception from the hostess!:D

Visited Van a couple months ago and had an excellent meal at Sanafir, would definately go back...
Sanafir: Super sexy atmosphere, especially if you get the beds upstairs. Excellent food. Very attentive and friendly service.
I've been there several times and prefer it week days as weekends can be a little too busy.
On Granville Street beside Dare to Wear near Nelson.

I'm a long time fan of Joe Fortes (best raw oysters). Love the service and atmosphere.

Blue Water is generally referred to as the best restaurant in Vancouver and the food is excellent but something about the atmosphere seems a little cool to me. I've been a few times and go back for the food but not the atmosphere.
