Yeah, take him to the ground before he puts his fist down your throat.lol
So you're telling me, if you have a gun on you and some guy comes at you with a knife or whatever you're gonna try and take him to the ground first eh.
ya right. Easy to say that until you're put in that position. Do you really think a cop enjoys having to shoot someone and take their life? easy to say when you're not in their shoes. thats my point. its easy for everyone to say they should have done this or that, but until you're actually put in that position none of us can say for sure what we'd do. People seem to forget that they're human too and I'm sure they get scared or react just like any other person no matter what training they get. I watched a homeless guy outside my work waving a machette around at passerbys and that guy got lucky, there were half a dozen cops with their guns out and he smartly dropped it. I'm sure not a moments gone by when the cop who shot that guy doesn't wonder if it couldn't have gone different. Fact is shit happens fast. Bottom line is the guy had a weapon and chose not to drop it.
People think they can do better then hey, RCMP keep advertising that they're hiring.
Well fucking said! (Y)

Regardless of all of the UFC hopefuls in this thread, we're talking about a man with an Exacto knife approaching a female cop.

I was referring to the street fight in which you said you saw some black belt get knocked out. No need to get all worked up over nothing like you normally do.

Actually two of them, not to mention one of them had 5 years of experience.

AND okay so whos at fault? The Police Officers for choosing shoot the guy or the guy with the knife choosing not to get on the ground and or put the knife on the ground...

I'm pretty sure he woudlve been just sent to court for theft under $5000 and or theft over $5000 and get a wepons charge against him. Serve his time and with the weak ass laws here in Canada he would've serverd like 1 year MAX! and out he wouldve been a walking man back in society doing this thang, trying to survive another day.

She was probably frozen in a state of shock that a slave(homeless man) would approach a god(police officer) with a knife. "OMG I cant believe we found one" as she shakes in fear!?

Some Officers are really nice to the homless and some are complete assholes. Some of them offer them to go to the shelters and willing to give them a ride there and also offer them to buy them cofee/and meals.

And if you truley had 2 blackbelts you would know not to say that. I have 24 years in martial arts training holding 2 black belts myself in jui-jitsu, korean kick boxing and russian sambo combat fighting which also teaches in disarming. I am a registered member of the LATF and surprised that you would say that.

When you are a trained fighter and/or even police officer for that matter you would know to never underestimate your opponenet. How do you not know that the guy with the knife was'nt experienced in weapons training? Are you telling me that these officers should take the chance after he refused to put the knife down? Even if these officers had 2 black belts as well you must take whatever force nessesary to save your life 1st without putting it one ounce at risk and she clearly did the right thing.

I would have shot him no questions asked. If he wants to disobey the orders and come at them with a knife they have every right to kill him. Does'nt matter how trained one is... don't take the cahnce period. Especially when his adrenaline is pumping and he has a knife. Come on now!
The guy was outnumbered and in his 50's. The lives of the officers were hardly in danger, maybe would have suffered a small cut but they would be alive. Now if a man in his 50's with a knife could actually kill 2 officers, those 2 shouldn't have been officers in the first place. I saw one kid cop must have been 22 and 110 lbs. One of those REALLY skinny no muscle people. Now if he was approached by a man with a knife, fire away.

Is it just me or do you not seem to understand that the Police Officers did not want to take that chance of being striked and killed? I'm almost certain that the one with the 5 years of experienced has faced something far more crazy than a guy in with a knife, espically with whats going on these days. Yes only a cut, it could be a sever cut that would relate to a huge amount of blood loss and or could've hit an a vien or something.

Again what I stated before, all the guy had to do was just put the knife on the ground and this wouldn't have even happend ; wouldn't even been on the news. It just would've been a regular silly case in the books.

And for that so call "kid" cop that you saw that must have 22... I'm almost positive that he had a family memeber in the Police force. The Police force, weather it be RCMP and or city Police have not accepted anyone that young since like 1970's. They want to you to have life experience.

this was poorly judged & WHAT'S WORSE, is that the documented evidance they destroid.........THAT SMELLS LIKE ASS, nothing else:rolleyes:
I don't think it was poorely judged. The Police Officers would've told him to drop the wepon not just once or twice or trice but atleast a half dozen times but he failed to do so.

Yea what is gross is that another Police Officer that came into the scene later destroyed the evidence. I would like to see him suspended WITHOUT PAY!

police officers mainly deal with the shit of society. and from their experiences if someone is stupid enough to not listen to them and come at them with a weapon then they are going to get shot. if they don't like it then don't go after a cop with a knife or any weapon. if i am holding a knife or some other weapon and a cop shows up i am dropping that weapon before they tell me so i don't die. and if your a cop and you think your life in danger, and its a choice between you not going home to your family and this moron you better believe they will choose themselves. and as for shooting the person in the hand or thigh is just dumb. you gotta love the people who believe movies are real

Good thing we agree about the UNPAID suspension bit.
lol. But ya what Shybutniceguy said, Police Officers aren't there to kill people. Part of their job is to be out in the community and bring it a safe place for US as society to live in and not to be in fear 24/7. That is to take the crimnals to court and bring justice! And hopefully with justice being brought to them they will later after the time spent(if any) choose a better path in life. Change is just right around the corner. But if Police Officer has to do what a Police Officer has to do to back to their family safely then they will do it, even if they have to pull the trigger.

Hubba, Ya I know what she was refering to lol. I just wanted to agree with her:).

LOL, silky/lightbearer, you really are good at making a complete fool of yourself. Don't worry, I'm sure we all believe that you're a double blackbelt, despite the fact that absolutely everything you've said smacks of somebody whose only experience with fighting is what he sees in the movies.

OK, let's review your advice for fighting a guy with a knife. Instead of keeping him at a distance and taking him down in the safest (to you) way possible, you should let him get close enough to lunge at you, in order to hit his leg with a baton. Don't forget to back up while doing this, and look over your shoulder to make sure that you don't trip over anything, while giving him an opportunity to make a sudden move. Also, if possible, try to pepper spray him, even though it might just make him madder and less predictable, and it will mean that your hand is occupied with the pepper spray instead of a more effective weapon.

It's funny, because anyone with any actual experience (even somebody like me whose experience is limited to only 2 real fights) will tell you that if you get close to somebody, chances are you're getting hit, and if he's got a knife, chances are you're getting cut. Also, anyone with any actual experience will tell you that if you're in a situation where combat is imminent, you have to use every advantage you've got to end it as quickly as possible, because you never know what the other guy's capable of.

Again, I'm sure we all believe that you're a double blackbelt.

Aww so angry :(
Nah I just get a kick out of the crap that comes out of your mouth.lol Then again if you spew half your crap in public you probably are best if you do have a couple black belts lol Anyone can get a black belt if they want as you're not even in real fight situations when you get tested. Hell there are kids out there with blackbelts lol Doesn't mean they're going to beat a guy with a knife or anyone for that matter.

Damnit, that's what I've been doing wrong. My game plan starts out with being punched in the face! :D
hey I've known a few guys who like to take a shot or two in the face first, just pisses them the hell off even more. Thats why you can't underestimate a person no matter what they're holding as a weapon. You have no idea what that person is capable of. Especially if there's the possiblity their coked up or something.

That fucking ENRAGES me to the point of blacking out! Can't remember any part of the fight until I calm down. Especially if it's a hit to the nose!

Cue Hubbas, "Hulk" joke: ;)

If you've got a gun out and someone is approaching you with a knife, you can shoot him or you can let him slash your arm and get your gun.

your choice.

I'd pick shoot him.

You ever wonder why a cop with a gun on his belt isn't particularly interested in 'wrassling' with some crack head?

What do you think the crack head is going to grab first? Duh...

Oh wait!! I know, they should make all cops martial arts wanna-bes and take away their guns so that the crack heads can't grab their guns while they impress them with their bruce-lee style karate yells.

(yes, yes I know... I know.... geez... dumb-ass)
