Hello Health Nurse - I know that epididymitis' cause cannot always be determined.. but I was just curious if an STD were to be the cause then what's the normal timespan that the epididymitis would show up from when the STD was contracted?

Thanks! :)

Hi torontotop

I have asked our doctor this question and she has said that from her clinical experience it is very random with some people developing epididymitis soon after infection and other people developing it later on.

It would be a difficult thing to study as you are not really sure how long someone has had the infection as most men who have a sexually transmitted infection in the penis do not experience symptoms.

Here is a link for more information on epididymitis (it explains what it is)
