OK, being from out in the sticks where we leave our car runnin while we go into 7-11 for a blueberry tea latte, what are the vehicle crime rates at MP's. I ask cause as I was waiting for my appoint at Aristocrat's the other day, I saw a dude put a club on his steering wheel b4 he walked in to the studio! and yeah, he looked at me kinda funny as I'm just sitting in the jimmy, in the parking lot, between him and the studio.

I dont know what the rate is but I would assume it is not that common. But I never take one of my nice cars when I go for a appointment later in the evening. It would be tough to explain to people I know why my car was stolen or broken into outside an MP.

There has never been a report of a car being stolen from a MP. Now I can't speak for the parking lots or streets surrounding the parlour, but you vehicle is safe in the MP. Just be careful you don't leave oil stains on the carpet in the waiting room.

Just use common sense would seem to work. If it is evening and you see a guy lurking about with a crowbar or a big rock in his hands, you probably don't want to leave your car sitting there.

Mostly you should be fine, especially during the day and/or in the "better" parts of the city, although no guarantee. Just like parking anywhere else in the city, just use the same rules.

I have gone to a few MP's in the less desireable parts during the evening and never had a problem. Usually the parking lot is fairly well lit and put your valuables away & out of view.

Dude probably had a case of "Pooner Shame" and was not too excited to see you sitting there while he went in. I should know, because that was me you saw.

How would someone steal your car? If you can afford MPs then you should be able to afford a car that has a fuel cut off/key chip.
As for someone breaking into your car, that won't happen unless the guy can see something worth smashing into your car and stealing.

Best you can do in any part of a city in North America is just be smart about it.

I would say most are looking for a 'smash and dash' (looking for CD's, coffee/car wash change, IPODS/MP3's, etc...) However if they want to steal your vehicle - they will. But you can deter them and increase your chances of not being targeted.

1. Use a club or a column lock for a visual deterrent. It takes less than a minute to steal a vehicle and time means everything to these guys. The longer it looks like it will take to jack your ride the better. They will look for an easier target.

2. Don't leave ANYTHING in sight. No garage door opener, change, or even an empty envelope - they'll want to see what's in the that too!!

3. Park smart. Don't park in a dark corner in the alley - park on the street or parking lot where there's other people/traffic.

now for real, who would be STUPID enough to report car stolen while in MP, at least be creative enough to be in a neighboring buisness!

Darwin's theory on evolution proves there are still some that don't belong in the same gene pool!

1. 4. Not middle eastern but i have worked hard to buy what I enjoy.

2. places like 50th dont have any business open that i would go to at 10pm.

I guess i would rather be safe than sorry. and getting a car broken into that i really like would suck.

I think public transport is great but am not one to take it.

Car theft rates. . .

Googling the topic on car theft rates in Canada, gives the following hit:

http://www.autotheftcanada.com/content/pdfs/Alberta_Cities_Auto_Theft_and_Recovery_Stats_2004.pdf

This states that only BC has had higher numbers of unrecovered stolen vehicles compared to Alberta in all of Canada. Edmonton has had the highest car theft rates for the major cities and municipalities in Alberta. Now, leaving your car running (regardless of how long you'll be away from it - let alone being in an MP for at least an hour) leaves you at risk having your car stolen for a joyride (the more expensive or newer ones are destined to be shipped overseas or sent to the chop shops). The guy putting on the club (especially if he is leaving the car idling) is smart - anyone looking for an easy ride in this cold weather would not bother breaking into that vehicle if he has to hack saw his way around the club!

If you want to take the risk of having your car stolen - try leaving the running car unlocked anywhere in Edmonton - look at the increase in car thefts in the last two years of the study above and see the jump in rates in 2003/2004. Alberta (especially Edmonton and Calgary) has had an influx of people (not all good) from all over Canada and all over the world in the last few years - still want to take the risk?

Ford F150s are highest on the stolen vehicle list btw.

Just don't drive your truck to an mp.

Especially not one with your company logo on the side... like so and so concrete work.. hint hint.

I'm like Justpervin with a minimum 2 hour drive to the city. I am not going to park somewhere else and walk or take a bus. I make sure everything is concealed plus I have tinted windows. My biggest fear is having it stolen but I have never had a problem. I once even had a sweet SP go out and check to make sure I locked it.

Most places are pretty safe I think. 50th st, Supreme, Jaileys, Passions, most places on the south side have busy, lit up and very visible parking so I don't worry. Revive is not very good for me, my truck is too big for that tiny parking lot out back so I park a couple of blocks down in residential area, I feel it's pretty safe there. Legends is the same, I can't get into that lot and it's always full anyway. I know I'm paranoid but I avoid parking on the bottle depot street and instead park in front of the vet. It's 2 hours and no signs saying private so I'm not worried about a ticket or getting towed. Cloud 9 and Deja vu can be iffy but like I said I have never had any problems yet, well except for forgetting where I parked.....but only a few girls have that affect on me.

That's gotta be interesting, just come out of a session and you look around for your vehicle and realize you have no F'N idea where you left it. Then you have to walk the streets until that fateful moment where you realize that it is there right in front of you. Be fairly interesting, especially if it was at night.

Had that happen to me, but not coming out of a MP. SUCKS!

Never really saw much of a reason to be concerned about leaving my vehicle out front of Aristocrat's during the day.

What I want to know is......What's up with the Blueberry tea Latte? Do guys really drink that?

Pass on the Blueberry tea latte thing, if that is what you like, ok with me. Not my thing, but hey that`s life.

On the finger up the ass thing, been there, done that, got the tshirt, nothing really wrong with that, just make sure you don`t push back when it happens. Sometimes when you get hooked up with certain SP`s it can just get kinda crazy!

Just search for FuzzyT`s post - yo...s://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=101053
That is one FUCKED UP thread! Who knows what the hell he is talking about there.
