It was shown in Canada last year on the Showcase channel. It is currently on Showtime. It is loosely based on the blogs of Belle de Jour. It is is a British television show starring Billie Piper (you may know her from Doctor Who) as Belle, a high-class London-based call girl. Season 1 has 8 half hour episodes. The show is from Belle's perspective and POV. Topics explored on the show includes escort agencies, GFE, bad review, fake review, overnight appointment, cheating on your overnight customer, how to make a marathoner come quickly, regular customer, 3some, the regular customer snatched by the other 3some girl, S&M, adult parties, scary customer, dealing with her ex-boyfriend (who eventually found out what she does) and family (who doesn't know what she does for a living). I found it quite interesting and entertaining, much better than the drama of Perb.;)

Season 2 will be out (in the UK) in Sep, and from what I've heard - Belle turns independent and finds love. Can't wait.

I happened to catch an episode that I hadn't seen before tonight on Movie Central. Might have been one of these season 2 episodes mentioned by wilde. For those who liked the show and have Movie Central, check your listings!

Billie Piper is the best choice for that role. She is pretty but not stunning, nice body but not great, smart but not brilliant. Totally breaks out of the stereotypical 'hooker' persona. And more like a real SP. Fuckable, but not Loveable. Now, I don't mean that in a negative way, but it's true, SP's are different (or become different) than 'normal' girls. IN some ways better, and in some worse. And by no means are all SP's the same, each and every one is different in many ways.

This show is very realistic, the writers must be some of us highly educated pooners..?

yeah season two is already out. Was a little disappointed with the ending though :( I had high hopes
Just finished Season 2 myself. It was not as good as Season 1 but still very much watchable. I thought the ending was pretty cheeky, "A girl has to her research" meaning she ain't quitting anytime soon.

Season 3 has been given the green light or so I heard.

Belle's blog

From Nov 25 2008, directed to an anti-prostitution female writer:

That is right. You are on the same side as the whore, because we are both writing about modern women and the choices they make, and why. I write about sex, real sex, and money changing hands doesn't make it less real than yours. The ways in which people use and abuse sex, how women use sexuality and what it does - or doesn't - do to their lives as a result. I am as entitled to do so as you are.

But it is far easier, it would seem, to attack what you refuse to understand. Which is a pity because infighting only serves those on the outside who would put all women's sexuality into a pretty little box.

What I write about is something every depiction of prostitution in this country in recent years has not been permitted to say. There will be no comeuppance. There will be no guilt and shame. And most importantly, there will be no white goddamn knight. Sounds a little like your memoir on dating and mating, no?

Myself, personally, I am enjoying life. Neither in spite of nor because of my past but because I choose to. It is a happy and productive place right now and while an unprovoked attack like yours is unwelcome, it isn't going to keep me up nights. There are other things doing that job at the moment...

Because the series had to pull its punches at the crucial moments, because no one else wants to say these things, I can: I will. I am unrepentant. I make no apologies for my past or what I write. And my future will be no worse than yours as a result.

I noticed that the season 3 premiere was scheduled on Movie Central last night. I had to set my timer as it was on at the same time as 24 but figured I'd let those who were interested know that there is a third season.

Episodes 1 and 2 are available online at videostic.com.
I wanted to see the Billie and Belle interview that was shown after ep 2, but it wasn't up anywhere to stream that I could find :(

It was on last week when I tuned in expecting episode 1. You didn't miss much, the interview was fairly timid.

I've download and I'm watching now.

IMHO Battlestar Galactica was a better show.

It's not bad, but I'd rather be chatting on PERB.

I just finished watching Season 3.

Spoiler Alert, don't read if you haven't finish Season 3.

It's ironic that Belle's new boyfriend turned out to be a pooner (or a punter as they call it in the UK).
