Thinking about dyeing my hair.

Just wondering if any guys dye their hair. I've been going white since 30ish and it has become more pronounced in the past 2 years.

Just for men? Or just go to a Salon?

Ladies, any colour of hair you all generally prefer? I was thinking raven black.
Mid-Life crisis has hit me I guess. :)

Mark, I speak from extensive experience. I had grey hair in high school ! Too vain to leave it so I started to dye my hair in my teens. Many, many years later I have now since stopped. Go for it. If you go to a salon they will give you advice on the color/shade etc.

I dyed my hair when i was 16. I ended up going blue, bought the material and did it all by myself. Of course the color faded and my hair turned piss yellow. Opted not to do it again.

I have considered putting red streaks in my hair. Not too sure how well it would go over with the company that i work for though.

Salon is your best bet.

Thanks for the advice folks. Much appreciated. I am fairly salt and pepper now, with just like 3 wrinkles on forehead or so. Not weathered, thankfully.

I might try dark brown and go to a salon to get it done. I guess I'll have to consider it over time.

Stay real, or ask your hairdresser about low-lites instead of a complete die.

Good luck on your new look.

to dye or not to die

Hair dye is so frickin toxic for you and all the poor critters on the other end of the drain. If you must dye, go to a store which sells natural personal care products like capers, choices, finlandia but honestly, silver looks so hot on guys, young or old whereas black hair on an older guy..so hurtin'!

Yes Anderson Cooper may be attractive ...but mostly to women over 30...which is fine if you are interested in women over 30. If you are at that borderline age, and you want to attract a younger woman, then I'd get it coloured at a salon. Do it pro, because there's too many things that can go wrong(too dark, too light).

If you're this concerned now, just pay the bucks at the salon at first and if you think you can do it yourself, then do it the next time.

That singer from Kiss in the photo above looks terrible. Its way too dark of a hair dye and so fake looking.

Unless you're looking to sport some unique and eccentric look, you're better off taking clues for hair colour from your own natural skin tone and the colour of hair you had when younger. A good salon will be able to provide helpful suggestions.

If you have a full head of thick hair consider leaving it greyish or go with low-lites as one person here suggested. Many women of all ages seem to think it sexy. I work in an environment where I'm the only male and I often hear ladies (even the young ones) comment on how good thick grey hair looks.

On the other hand, if nature has decided to thin you out on top, hair colour is likely going to look bad in almost all cases. Very short or shaved are generally the only options in that case. Few women may prefer extremely short hair or a shaved head, but most who comment will tell you that it's way better than any of the other solutions directed at us baldies. If you look after yourself, are fun to hang with, and have other virtues, then some gals will show mercy to a bald guy. Personally I don't miss my hair but I do recognize my baldness can be a liability when looking for romance.

Good luck finding a look that works for you. Above all else you'll need a good sense of humour and a willingness to experiment to find what works for you.

Thanks Code and all. I do have a bit of a receding hair line, and a high forehead. Fortunately no bald spot yet. Maybe in 10 years though. I'll probably go to a tanning salon then and shave it completely. Tanned bald head looks ok on most guys I think.

You can put drunken phone calls at the top of that list too ;) They seem so right at the time though.
Probably the truest post on PERB! I once received a drunken message from a very good friend, I didn't recognize him until he said his name! He even did the whole 'hic' thing while talking. Funniest voicemail I've ever heard.
