Excuses needed

I'm going out on a limb here posting this.

I am in a graduated return to work rehab program and I have to see a therapist every week, however, a buddy of mine has booked me and him on a 5 day mini vacation to the US.

I need some excuses in being able to cancel my appointment for that week.

Any excuses that can't be verified and that can be given about a day ahead?

Phone the day of from your cell and say that you caught thr Norwalk Virus. Really bad 24-48 hour flu that is very contagious. Even your doctor will tell you to stay home and just tough it out rather than come in to the clinic.

Your hampster died. Your so distraught that your amazed you able to pick up the phone. You have been crying all morning. It's going to take a week to plan the funeral.

Death in the family, an old friend, or relative with different last name. If you were really on the ball you could check obituaries and find the name of someone having a service.

Smash your foot with a hammer or other implement and tell them you hurt your foot and have to keep off it. You would have a real hospital visit and a real cast so it would be hard to tell you were lying.

Tell them the truth. Say its for your mental health. I'm sure if you tell them you'll book 2 days the next week to make up for it. Everyone should have breaks from daily grind. If you tell the truth you'll have a great time w/o worrying about lying, and come back refreshed ready to get better.

Depending on the rehab, tell them you feel like you have re-injured yourself and the rehab might be too much too soon anda you want to take a bit of a break from it.

Some really good suggestions, I especially like the Norwalk Virus one. Not sure how one could pass that one off as far as diagnosis goes but a stomach flu is always a good one.

You just say you have the symptoms to your dr over the phone. Done this one myself, so trust me, it works. My golf handicap is all te better for it

The problem is that I dont have a regular doc. I have to go to a walk-in clinic if I want to see one. Any time I call, I get the same line, come in an wait or go to Emergency.

Don't need one. Call a clinic, say you're afraid you have the Norwalk virus, describe your symptoms, they will tell you what to do. If your boss needs a note, tell him who you talked to and what they told you over the phone.
